Every time my MIL calls and leaves a message on the answering machine... she leaves her full name! (first and last name)... its kind of funny to hear... it sounds so formal - like we might not know who it is!

My mom does that to me when she leaves me a message on my cell phone - she's like 'hi, this is mom' - ....and so forth I crack up histerically when i hear it so i know what you mean by wierd -

My FFIL did that too...but now he just says 'dad' so it's really funny how he's gone from one extreme to the other!

Odd...very, very odd!
I remember being in middle school and my mom calling my friend's house. She asked if 'Donna _____ ______' was there, using my middle and last names! And I wasn't even in trouble! How embarassing!

DH's parents used to call and do this whole thing...Hi, it's First name/last name ummmm Mom....ummm First name.....give us a call when you get in. Now all of a sudden it's Hi, it's Mom or Dad.call us!

That's no weirder than the fact that JT's mother has NEVER EVER called us. Not once. Not even when we lived in MA. So at least she calls. (or then again, is it a good thing that she doesn't call us? Hmm )

The funny thing is we have a good relationship... she only calls once in a while... but its just so funny. Even if she said mom(even though I don't call her that) - process of elimination I could figure out if it was her or my mother!!
