FH and I just went to a friends wedding last night in Boston. The wedding was beautiful and the bride looked gorgeous. After the church, we all went to the reception hall. i was super excited for the CH, it's my favorite part of the reception. Silly, i know, but I love the appetizers We get there and it's open bar, but I can't find food anywhere. After looking through the entire room, I find one small cheese tray with a few crackers in the corner Needless to say, I was disappointed. i have never been to a wedding with that little food for the CH? Just curious if I am the only weirdo who loves CH food??

Re: Is this weird?
I went to a wedding like that in Colorado, which is normal for out there, but it does seem kinda odd that there were no food at a cocktail hour in Boston.... And yes, I love CH food!

I think there are those that do but people do things differently in other states. I learned that when I went to a wedding in Jacksonville Fla, it was very different!

I kinda thought so too. I have been to a bunch of weddings in Boston and I have never seen that. Okay, I am glad that others seem to like the CH as much as I do

Re: Is this weird?
i was at a very upscale wedding in boston and encountered the same thing. there was a small table of cheese and crackers and about 4 trays of passed hor deourves for the entire cocktail hour. half of the guests were from long island and attacked the waiters as they came out of the kitchen! I was very surprised by it but i guess every state does things differently!
Oh, and the CH was open bar, but the rest of the wedding was cash bar.

Yes...love the CH!! But it is true, weddings are done very differently in different states...my cuz's wedding in PA...there was like no food. I couldn't figure out what he paid for!!

Re: Is this weird?
At DH's sister's wedding in Baltimore they had just three trays of passed appitezers. And at the bar they only had Bud Light, Bud, Champagne and Red Wine.
Then dinner was one entree and then no cake AND she didn't even have coffee!
I guess it is a regional thing. Although their family was shocked when they saw the amount of food at our wedding. They joke that they are still full.

Re: Is this weird?
I just was at a wedding in Chicago and they did the same thing - a few passed h'dourves - and that's it! Was very disappointed as that is not the norm from LI. But, it was a great wedding - a Polish wedding - very interesting to say the least, but beautiful!

Re: Is this weird?
ch is the best part. but outside of ny there is barely a cocktail hour. cheese in crackers in syracuse wedding and a montana wedding.
I went to a wedding in Rhode Island and you had to buy your own drinks. Glad I had plenty of money with me!

Re: Is this weird?
We actually wanted to attend ours because we figured that would be where the best food and displays would be. We always fill up during the CH because you never know with the entree

Re: Is this weird?
Weddings in upstate (Buffalo) area are just like that. Just cheese and crackers and a little fruit.
