but i was wondering... i really love the song 'i loved her first' would it be innapropraite if i dance with my fh to that song in memory of my dad?

I think that's a very sweet song, and it's totally okay to dance with your mom to that as a tribute to your father, you do what's best for you and what's going to make you happiest that day!!

I would do what you feel in your heart---honor your Dad in whichever way you feel the need to. No one should judge you. I don't think it's weird at all, I think it's sweet

I'm in the same situation...my twin brother is giving me away & dancing with me- I think you have to do what you can handle, the day is going to be so emotional that I would say just make sure you can handle it.
I thought about dancing to 'Dance With My Father' by Luther Vandross but then I came to my senses and realized that on my (and your) wedding day everybody is going to feel the absence as it is..so regardless if you go with that song, or something else everybody will wish he was there..

That is a great song !!!!!!!!! I too am in the same boat.... I will be having my 8 yr old son and my sisters father in law walk me down the aisle... and having a special dance with both of them also !!!!!!!!!! I would do whatever makes you and your mom happy. That is a beautiful song!
I think its a little weird (IMO) to dance with your FH to that song for your father because of the words ... it is a beautiful song but maybe consider doing something else for your dad to that song. my dad passed 7 years ago and i am doing a picture slide show of me and my dad to the song i picked for him because i didnt want anyone taking my fathers place.

i am very confused...
i am an only child, dad died when i was 6.
my mom doesnt want to do a dance with me she feels weird about it.
she wants me to dance with my stepfather who i have no relationship with... so i said NO WAY
i am starting to think maybe, dancing to 'i loved her first' with my fh, in memory of my dad is weird... i dont know
throughout the night, there will be things, that remnd me of my dad EX. we are walking in to EYE oF the tiger.
it was me and my dad's song (but not many people know that). we will have pix of my dad and other deceased relatives around, plus we are doing a memorial montage... but nothing is really just for him, ya know...this sux and its really hard.
