Is this wierd

Is this wierd

Im not really on speaking terms with my father, he's been an absentee dad my whole life, who is not invited to the ceremony but can come to the reception. So needless to say I'm not going to have a Father Daughter dance, is it weird to have a Mother Daughter Dance.

I wanted my mom to walk me down the aisle, but we decided that my grandpa should walk me, but I also want to dance with my grandpa.

But I don't want to be having those private dances for 1/2 of the reception.

I am in the same boat kind of - my parents divorced when I was 14 and I haven't spoken to or seen my father in a good 10 yrs! - He will NOT be at my wedding.
But I will be doing a mother/daughter dance!

I think it is sooo special and sweet. I vote yes to do and you don't need to do the an entire song - you can do half the song with your mom and the other half with grandpa.

No it's not weird, I've heard alot of girls on here are doing mother/daughter dances. And if you want to have one with your grandpa go for it! If you want it to be not as formal, have the band/dj invite your guests to join in dancing during the middle of the song. So that your grandpa gets his spotlight, AND the guests dont have to wait until the entire song is over until THEY can start dancing again

I think it is a great idea.. i am actually in a similar situation ~ I am not on speaking terms with my mom (parents are divorced) lived with mom growing up... and my Step mom has been such an angel especially with the wedding... so i wanted to have a special dance with her 2... but i think i will have the rest of the guests join in somewhere in the middle/or just after the beginning...

Not weird at all. My cousin had a mother/daughter dance cause her father had passed. That was 15 years ago and no one thought it was weird then. Good Luck

I'm doing a mother/daughter dance and a father/daughter dance (my parents are still together and I have a good relationship with both). My mother is my very best friend so I just had to have a private dance with her. I am going to keep it short since I will be reading a poem in honor of her role in my life, that way people don't have to sit through too many private dances. She deserves to have the spotlight on her for a few minutes because of how wonderful she is. I'm sure your guests won't mind at all.

I don't think it's weird at all. I think more people dance with their moms then we know. I think it will be special.

NO! It's so fabulous! I like the idea of doing half and half and if not then do one dance with both mom and grandpa. It takes - what - 2-3 min per song? Not a big deal at all! this is your day - get all the touching memories that you can!
