I have my ring insured under my parent's home insurance. It is about $500 a year.

Just bring your appraisal and certificate.

You can insure it under your own insurance (homeowners or rental) or if you still live with your parents you can insure it under their insurance

FH insured my ring with State Farm. I believe he took the ring, the appraisal and the GIA cert to the broker.

It cost him somewhere around $200 for the year.

They did mine right at the jewelry store that my FH bought it at- but you can really get it insured anywhere- i have heard that the most reasonable is adding it to the home insurance

I really need to do this. i think I'm just going to add a rider to my homeowners insurance also. For some reason i just keep forgetting, and when I remember I'm at work and can't call (I work in a big open space and everyone can hear everyone's conversations!)

ABSOLUTELY 100% insure your ring! God forbid of anything you can have it replaced. We did ours through homeowners insurance through geico.

We were debating over whether to insure it or not....and then my stone came loose. FH took the appraisal papers to his insurance broker and they took care of it for us.

Yup, we insured it through our homeowner's insurance. I think most companies have that but not positive.

I still havent done this... i'm so bad.
I know I have to get it appraised first but I don't know how to go about doing that either.
I don't really have hundreds of dollars to spend on it right now...

we insured through jewelers mutual. We just sent the apprisal with the application to them. We don't have renters ins or anything so we did a seperate policy. The price goes by a percentage of the value based on the county you live in.
