Is your reception Smoking or Non-Smoking?

We were going to make it Smoking but now we want it to be Non-Smoking. We will have a lot of people there who don't smoke and hate it and we'll also have our little nephews and cousins there.
I think it would be better this way. If anyone wants a smoke, they can step outside for a few minutes.
What's everyone else doing?

Re: Is your reception Smoking or Non-Smoking?

Our wedding was smoking. We figured that the people who smoke, would spend a lot of the time outside smoking, and they might miss something. It really wouldn't of been our problem, but we were being considerate for others. Also, my husband smokes! I didn't notice any cigarette smoke the whole night, and no one complained.

Re: Is your reception Smoking or Non-Smoking?

ours is definitely non-smoking. I'm trying to think of a nice way to get the smokers to smoke in the far end of the garden. Obnoxious I know, but there are beautiful gardens at my reception hall and I don't want the non-smokers (who are pretty anti-smoke) to have to walk through a cloud of smoke to get a breath of fresh air and a stroll around the garden!

I didn't know this was an otpion.

I will talk with my hall (another thing to add to the list) to ask for non-smoking.

Re: Is your reception Smoking or Non-Smoking?

Our wedding is mostly non smoking because I think its ridiculously rude to smoke while someone is eating - and people are usually eating at some table in the room all night. Guests can smoke at the bar (in a seperate room) if they like.

At the end of the night, we are handing out cigars for those that want them. Cigars are gross to me but my FH gets such a kick out of them that I couldn't resist.

Re: Is your reception Smoking or Non-Smoking?

Ours will be Non-smoking. I don't think i want to have smoke swirling around during my reception. I am a smoker myself, but i dont feel anyone who doesnt smoke should be subjected to it. I also plan to quit before i get married.

Re: Is your reception Smoking or Non-Smoking?

I would think most halls are now non-smoking. I just quit myself, and even if I was still a smoker, mine would definitely be non-smoking. If anyone wants they can go outside.

Re: Is your reception Smoking or Non-Smoking?

Definitely no smoking in the reception room. No question about it!

My hall has a bar in it own room right off of the cocktail hour room where I may allow smoking after the cocktail hour is over.

Re: Is your reception Smoking or Non-Smoking?

I think I would cancel the reception before I made it smoking! I think that is just nasty! There is nothing worse that people smoking while you are eating and then leaving sticking like smoke.

Re: Is your reception Smoking or Non-Smoking?

The reception room was non-smoking, but there was smoking on the patio. We asked for no ashtrays to be put out at all, only in the patio which was outside.

Re: Is your reception Smoking or Non-Smoking?

Since I watched my Nanny die from lung cancer I would rather elope in Vegas than have ANY smoking at my reception. Let the smokers stand out in the cold night November air- fine with me.
My hall is Non-smoking anyway but I always planned on not allowing it inside. It makes your dress smell awful too.

Re: Is your reception Smoking or Non-Smoking?

My reception is going to be smoking. My Dad and my Godfather both smoke plus there will be other guests that smoke, so how can I tell them especially my Dad not to smoke in the hall.

Re: Is your reception Smoking or Non-Smoking?

I asked my caterers what they do in this situation and they told me they do not put out ash trays. I will not allow smoking at all at my wedding, and the DJ will make an announcement there will be no smoking. Why should my dress smell, and why would I want to breathe in non filtered air, hey no offense here but at least the person smoking has a filter on there end of there cancer stick!

Ours will be non-smoking but they can go to the bar in a separate area to smoke if they want.
