Does anyone else feel that wearing a veil is suffocating? I just feel like i'd be getting attacked! Especially since i'm having a beach wedding! God forbid it's windy that day!
I just really don't think i want to wear a veil. I'm not a veil kind of girl and my wedding is somewhat non-traditional. But i think that would put the nail in my coffin if i didn't wear a veil. My FMIL & FSIL would have a heart attack (as if i haven't given them a few already with not going down the traditional route).
Is anyone else not wearing a veil?

I felt that way on my wedding day. While waiting at the church with the blusher over my face I could not breath. We went to the beach after for pictures and it was flying around in the wind. You may be better off w/out it if you are having a beach ceremony.

i HATE having things in my face (i'm always in ponytails b/c even my own hair in my face pisses me off), so for my wedding I'm just wearing a veil for 'decorative' purposes (i.e. just a single layer in he back for that bride-y look, but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in my face.)

this is why there's no chance in h#ll that I'm wearing a blusher. I'll be wearing my veil under my hair (updo) down my back - no choking or suffocating.
Definitely for a beach wedding I wouldn't wear a veil over your face, that just seems like asking for trouble to me.

If it is not your style, remember that you will see pictures of it forever! I wore the whole enchilada. I had veil and blusher. BUT, I am a veil kind of girl and everything was indoors for my wedding. I have had long hair all my life so am used to the length of something hanging from my head.
If you don't want to wear one, tell your FMIL your forgot it, lost it in the limo, etc. Or tell her that if she wants it, she pays for it, and the one you want is $1,500. Or tell her, 'the photographer said........' and make up something about problems with taking pictures with a veil (which can be true).

I didn't have a blusher. I had a tiara and a veil under my updo. It was never in my face. Or around my neck.

Re: is your veil attacking you?
I am wearing a cathedral length one that will attach under my updo and I won't have a blusher so it will just hang down my back. Then it is coming off after the church

see i don't even think that i want to wear one at all. I mean you know how most of you, i'm sure, when you put the veil on it just makes it complete??? Well for me... i feel stupid and i just think i look ridiculous! Does that sound odd?

It is always windy at the beach, especially Montauk! You should plan on it now.
I got around the veil suffocation factor by having a really short veil. It looks almost exactly like the pic in the link below but with a pencil edge instead. And it is coming off right before the reception.
You can wear a pretty comb or flowers in your hair if you don't want to wear a veil. It's your day, be comfortable.

I felt like that too... it made me feel VERY claustrophobic! that's why I opted to not wear it over my face for the ceremony.

That is exactly why I didn't order a blusher. My veil will be under my hair and out of the way.

Maybe you can wear your veil towards the back of your head.
I am wearing mine in the back 'below' by half up. It's just hang from the lower part of the back of my head. So it's not in my face.

I am NOT wearinga veil...it's not my thing...i think i'd feel suffocated.....i don't like my fingernails painted because i feel 'trapped' in them. I am not claustrophobic though...i just don't like the feeling i get.
i've heard tons of lip....all on the FIL side though. my mom is very supportive of my ideas and has never said i should wear anything...she just supports my decisions....i love it!!
