I don't understand why everytime I say 'my husband' this or 'my husband' that people immediatly ask 'How OLD are you?' Is it REALLY any of your business? Who would ask that? I would NEVER! Is it rude? or just me?
Young Brides... do you get this often?

That's definately rude! You know I'm the same age as you Jess and believe me, although nobody's had a reaction where they asked my age like that, I've certainly got some funny looks from people when I've said 'my husband.' So, I found the person I was meant to spend the rest of my life with and I married him at a young age...is it really THAT big a deal?

i always got told i was younger then i was , at times i would get out right nasty about it, but i could not realize it was a complement because we are always our toughest critic!

Plus the fact that I'm pregnant now and beginning to show isn't helping at all. Don't worry, when we're older and we've been married to our DH's for several years, we'll get respected for it. People like to doubt until they're proven wrong.

That's funny, because often people think I'm older than I am until I tell them (usually people think I'm about 4 or 5 years older.) Perhaps that's why I haven't gotten AS big of a reaction as Jessica has. We are indeed always our toughest critic. I couldn't agree with that more.

Right, even if you were 18, it's still kind of terrible to judge somebody's important life decisions based on age alone. Just because we were ready for such a big step earlier than the 'average' person, doesn't mean we're 'too young' or 'making a mistake'. I can't tell you how many people told me that I should 'play the field and not be tied down at such a young age.' Ugh.

Jess I look 12. NO JOKE ive gotten the childrens menu 2 times recently! I work in retail and at least ONCE A DAY someone looks at my rings or hears me say my husband and they say 'you are married you look 16' Then I have to explain Im 24. I know what you are going through. But remember when we are 40 we will love it.

I get it all the time when I say I'm engaged. I'm SO used to it, because I look a lot younger than I am, I usually ignore it, but sometimes I get pissed off.
I was at the dr's office on my 21st birthday, and my chiropractor said 'next is the birthdya girl' and this lady said 'happy birthdya, how old are you?' I said 'guess' and she said '14'
and you could tell she thought she was flatterign me by saying older!

I'm 26 and people say to me all the time that I am so young to be married. I don't think 26 is that young at all to be married. I think it's really an odd comment. I mean, I don't walk around telling older people that they better hurry up and find someone to marry them because they are so old !!

I know exactly how you feel, when I got married I was 22 but I have always looked younger and people would be shocked to find out that was married.

Re: Isn't It Rude? (Young Brides)
It's rude. I've never had that issue in relation to marriage, but my first job out of college was in a high school, and it amazed me at how rude people were. Like yelling at me when I went into the teacher's cafeteria and snapping at me about not having a hall pass. I didn't mind being asked, but it did annoy me when people were rude.
