Isn't It Rude? (Young Brides)

Original post by lolita4life

I don't understand why everytime I say 'my husband' this or 'my husband' that people immediatly ask 'How OLD are you?'
Is it REALLY any of your business? Who would ask that? I would NEVER!
Is it rude? or just me?

Young Brides... do you get this often?

Well, I'll be 30 in a few months and just the other day someone at school asked me if I was a teacher or a student....
I think some people think I got married very young when they dont' know me....
Luckily - I rarely get commens about it though

I can't believe this is actually an issue. Or that it bothers anyone...

I do this to people and never meant any harm in it. Never thought I was being rude.

of course it bothers people! i dont know exactly what you say to people but the way people ask me they act as if i SHOULDN'T be married! thats offensive! not to mention i dont like people asking my age!

I don't mind people asking my age....but I do mind people assuming they know my age and then judging me based on that assumption

I get it ALL the time, but the funny part is I am ALOT older than I look so for me it is great!!! I still get ID'd My 21st birthday was 11 years ago....The best thing to do is just ignore them all....

Its not so much that its rude that they ask its more how they ask.

EXACTLY.

and it doesn't help that I don't have a ring, 'cause no one believes me at all. I'm 22, but look very young for my age.

It is rude, but as you get older, you'll appreciate it...

I get it too, I am 23 and I look younger
(even my students have asked if I get a ride to school because they didnt think i could drive?????they are middle schoolers and they arent obviously too on top of things, it's kind of sad)

anyway, I dont like it when people make the comment about...YOUR FIANCE??? How OLD are you?? Obviously, old enough to be getting married.... but then I think that one day I will like it,
but sometimes i wish that i could answer their rude question with a rude response
