So my parents offered to give us $20,000.00 when we were expecting NOTHING from the beginningso we were stunned!! (my grandmother passed away and left my mother with most of her money). So Now I started to put it in my budget, I was so excited because originally we thought we couldn't go on a honey moon and we would have to cut so many costs to make everything work. Well she bought a house in Colorado, and explains t ome now she's going to give me some money, but she's not sure on how much she's going to have left over after the house settling and helping my brother move into their house and whatnot... would anyone else feel jilted? And I feel soooo stressed now, because I was finally starting to book things, and she drops a bomb of 'I don't even know how much I can give you anymore'
Do I sound like a brat? I just feel so stressed I wish she didn't tell me that she was offering me any money and then just gave me a surprise. I know I have so much time, but I would like to plan on a budget somewhere before I start planning everything!

I don't think you sound like a brat! A wedding costs a LOT of money. If someone offers to pay for something and then takes it back, it is not fair to you because now you are stuck with the bills that you were clearly conscious of avoiding if you didn't think they would be contributing. This makes me stressed for you. I'm sorry. Best of luck with everything.

I don't think you're a brat. You were told you would be getting that money so you put it into your budget. 20,000 is a lot to budget to have someone then say I don't know how much I can give you.

Thanks guys!! And she's moving in the next two weeks, So I don't even want to bombard here with questions until the move is over, but I want to get moving because I have like nothing booked! I am glad that I waited to book because I had a feeling it was too good to be true!

It is an expensive undertaking but be grateful if she helps at all

Re: Issues
She never should have said anything to you about an amount in the first place! She should have said, 'oh I might be able to put some money towards your wedding, but I don't know how much yet.'
$20K is A LOT to promise! It's terrible that she thinks it's ok to go back on it. I'm sorry!

=/ You arent being a brat at all- I am sorry she did that to you. She should never have said anything to you form the beginning if she wasn't 100% sure she was giving you all the money. 20k is a whole wedding! Again i am so sorry- but no you are not a brat!
