Issues with RSVP

Issues with RSVP

I have a question, if for your wedding a friend RSVP'd for two, (two were invited) but she is single and has no man in her life. She brings a female friend to accompany her, what would your reaction be??

If I had a friend that was not in a relationship I wouldn't have sent an invite that said '& guest'. There is a chance that by the time of the wedding she will be dating someone and will bring that person. If she is not dating someone I do think it is sort of tacky that she would bring a friend of hers to the wedding. Also, will she know other people at the wedding? if so I may say to her that I invited you with a guest in case you had a significant other, not to invite a friend of yours who is not a friend of mine. However, if she will not really know other people at the wedding I would probably just let it go.

You said you invited her with a +1, correct? Will she know anybody else at the wedding? Personally, if she has nobody in her life and she's more comfortable bringing a friend of hers if she's going to be alone otherwise at the wedding, I don't think it's a big deal at all. You can't really tell somebody they HAVE to bring somebody of the opposite sex.

Everyone says a guest is a guest. You'd want your friend to have fun at your wedding, especially if they don't know anyone else.

Assuming that you told her she could bring a guest and that's why she RSVP'd for two I will be completely fine with it, unless you specify she can only bring a date or male guest I don't see anything wrong with it.

No she doesn't know anyone else. This is a friend of mine that is going to a wedding on labor day weekend. She is trying to ask someone to go with her but so far no luck, so she asked me to accompany her. I said no, but she said it will look bad to have that extra empty chair next to her, because she RSVP's for two. She tried calling the bride for clarity on what to do but the bride is too busy.

I would not be too happy to have paid for someone and them not show up so I think she should either find someone to go with her or tell the bride asap that she will not be coming with a guest. The bride may not have made her final payment yet and can adjust her numbers.

Yea if you invite someone with a +1 they can take whomever they want. Which is why people who are not in relationships are not getting +1s at my wedding. Except my brother, but I he's my brother and I know he won't bring a random person.

Re: Issues with RSVP

my fiance went to a wedding right before we were dating and brought along a friend who was a guy. he knew everyone though and was really upset he didn't get an invite even though he wasn't close to bride or groom so my fiance felt bad. they didn't mind he came as the plus 1. some people are just more comfortable bringing a friend if they aren't dating anyone though.

but yeah if it was me I wouldn't care. more people to dance and party :)
