but I hate my FMIL. She and I always gotten along very well, but tonight, she calls FH and asks him to put me on the phone, so I start talking to her, thinking it is wedding related, and she tells me, you need to either get a better job or start working more hours. I have no idea where that came from, FH hears me defending myself, and grabs the phone from me and is like ***! Mind you, she is not paying in anyway for this wedding.
Sorry I needed to vent

sorry to hear that she upset you. She sounds like she is intruding a little too much there. What did you tell her when she said what she said? Just wondering..

All I could say is 'are you kidding me? you have no idea where i work and how often I work' thats when FH took the phone away, he was pretty shocked that his mother did that.

Ugh.. what she said was out of line. First off.. where is she getting this incling from? You don't think that perhaps FH said something to his mom about money or something and now she is twisting it around and thinking you should be working more? Ugh... still it's NONE of her business. I would just let it go for now.. forget it.. Have FH handle it.. Did her say anything to her about what she said to you?

Re: It is horrible to say
At first I thought that FH must have said something, but after grilling him he swore up and down that he would never involve his parents. FH is a Nassau Cop, he works very weird hours, and he has two children, from a previous marriage that I have to care for when he is working. So I dont work as often as I would be able to if he didnt have children. but is this my fault? His parents have HUGE boundary issues. I have to say almost every fight we have had has been because of something his parents have said or done. Im just getting tired of it. FH isnt one to cause family issues, so basically all he said to his mother was he was very upset with her for saying that to me, and it did nothing but cause problems now. UGH

That's not his mother's place for her to say anything about your job.
I could understand if she has concerns about how you both will get along financially, as most parents always do, but she should bring that up to him, and NEVER to you.

Re: It is horrible to say
That is what I said to FH. Sure my parents ask ME about our financial plans and such, but they would NEVER ask for me to put FH on the phone and do that to him. Then again, two weeks ago, his mother did bring up to FH that I should be signing a pre-nup and offered to bring him and pay for it.

She's being cruel!! She had no right to say that and you have every right to defend yourself to her and argue you with her. I'm glad that you FH stepped up and got in the middle, but he should do more too!!

She sounds like one of those MIL's who feels that NO woman is good enough for her son. Tell her that you would be more than happy to accept an endowment if she is hell bent on keeping those apron strings in tact.

I would have flipped out too, it was none of her business and I can't even believe she had the nerve to say anything to you.

So she called today, and I didnt answer the call, she leaves a message saying 'I hope you arent going to ignore me' doesnt even say she is sorry or was out of line. So yes, I will be ignoring her!
