It is really about quality not quantity

It is really about quality not quantity

Sorry, but a mini vent is coming:

On Saturday my hubby and I moved into our new apartment. He had asked quite a few of his friends to help him move his stuff. My stuff is already there.

Well only 3 people showed up one of them being his brother he asked about 10 people to help. I was so annoyed. My husband has so many friends, but you would have never known it on Saturday. I mean we moved in and everything but it would have gone quicker if those people had showed up.

What is the point of having friends if you cannot count on them- I have a few select friends and that is enough for me.

Hubby already put out the word that we may have a Superbowl party- now everyone is saying they are coming- What nerve of people

I always say you find out who your friends are in times of need!

I'm glad you got moved in and it sux that your DH's friends let you down. I know it's hard to say no to a friend but at least that's honest. Leaving you in a lurch and short handed is not what a friend would do.

I know exactly whay you are talking about. I only have a few selected friends that I can call 'friends'. I have moved about 4 times since I have been with DH and not once did those people that I thought were friends offer to help or actually did help.

If I was your hubby, I would tell them 'Thanks for helping us move' when they show up for the superbowl party. See what excuses they come up with. Thats rude when someone says they are going to come over and help and they don't show.

hi Kysha

well, I always say:

you know who your friends are in 2 cases:

a move or a ride to/from the airport! LOL!

I also have a small handful of VERY good friends because it gets to be too much for me to deal with everyone's BS. FI has a larger group of friends that are all over but again, a small group that we hang out with normally.

I completely agree...I prefer to have a handful of great/close friends than a army of friends who wouldnt be there for me when I really needed them.

That was pretty messed up, but I think part of this is the difference between guys/girls.

Girls tend to have a few close friends who they can count on for anything and who would always be there for them (shoulder to cry on, to help in time of need, etc.), whereas a guy can have 20 guys who he considers his friends, but not truly reliable in time of need. Not all guys', just saying in general most guys have a large group of friends, although I don't think they tend to be as close as women's friends.
