It just doesnt get easy for me

Being an early planner and a strong believer in 'the early bird....' I had FH call the church yesterday so we can SECURE the date for our rehearsal and finally put down a deposit on the church. I almost lost it (picture calm and tranquil Diva suddenly getting green eyes....green skin...Dont make me angry!) when FH told me that the 2005 schedule is not even out yet and it wont be until May!!!!! Who the HELL starts 2005 in MAY!!!!! So now these people are telling me I cant plan ANYTHING until 5 months before my wedding!!!! That means I cant take precana early, which means I cant make programs, I cant schedule rehearsal & dinner, I cant work on the handmade RD invites and loads of other stuff I cant do! And to top it off they dont accept deposits, so Im not even sure my date is secure!! Can someone tell LIW to change my name to HULKbride!!

Girl, I would do it in a heartbeat. Matter of fact, the church that I am attending RCIA has been nothing but wonderful to me and has offered to perform the ceremony if the date is available.
But its my FH's church. I cant begin to tell you how patient and good he has been about this whole wedding planning. The only thing he has ever asked is that we marry at his family's church. I cant let him down. Its the only thing he is asking for. But I leave him in charge of it and he's getting frustrated by it. He's sad that this is the only thing we seem to be having problems with. Ugh!!

Breath girl! It'll all be okay - the church has reserved the wedding date for you, right? If not jsut call every so often until they give in and do it for you - offer to give a deposit to hold the date.

If it's just the rehearsal date you are stressed over I am going to smack your behind - don't stress yourself out...they will accomodate you and it'll all work out. Just stay on top of them. It'll all work out - it always does.

i think for most churches you don't need to put a deposit down to hold your dat - you are just put in a book

it will work out don't worry

you should be able to take pre cana anytime you want because you can usally take it anywhere - you just show the certificate of completion to the church

I would do as some of the others suggested. Call every Monday at 10am. Eventually they won't want to hear from you and give you what you want!!

But I can't believe they wait that long to schedule. I don't think I've ever heard of such a thing!

I know, I know, Im stressing about this too much. But one thing I hate is uncertainty, and this is exactly it. I just hate not knowing and not planning ahead.

That is ridiculous! Maybe you could ask the priest personally? Whenever I call the church, I get the lady in the rectory who is a total space cadet!

That is ridiculous! Is it possible he got incorrect info? I would go down there and explain the situation in person. You are getting married in October - but what about the people that are getting married in May or June?? What do they do?

Jenn... Come to St. Williams with Stephen and I!!! It will be so fun to wedding plan during RCIA! I mean... learn about god...hee hee.
We can plan out altar arrangements and pew bows together.
Oh well... Hope it all works out. I can't believe they won't let you book it. I would have melted down.

okay, god bless his soul for trying to help you and take care of something...but did you call again to double check??

maybe fh got it wrong...like they don't book your month till may or something like that...or maybe the person he was talking to didn't know what they were talking about!!

I am with the other girls. Say 'fine' but call every few days 'to make sure you do not lise the date' -- they will be so sick of you that they will jkust give it to you.

Ya know, from the get go, Walter & Lois offered the church to us, and I told Chris we should go with them. Even as we were making our first arrangements with the St Martin, they were giving us a hard time. Im forced to just call constantly and make sure they dont forget about lil ol' me!! I'll see you tomorrow!!
