My daddy won't be walking me down the aisle since he's deceased. I was thinking about the music and the dances and I somehow started listening to Butterfly Kisses and started to cry. I always thought we'd dance to that song and it just reminds me of my dad. It has been 10 years but I really haven't had any major events in that time. I don't want to be this crying mess on my wedding day!!!

He'll be there. I'm such a baby- I know I'm going to cry about my mom...the closer it gets, the more I think about it and cry...but I'm finding a way to honor her that won't be so vivid that I totally lose control. Will someone else be walking you down?

I can't even imagine how difficult that must be to think about. Lots of hugs to you. He'll still be with you in spirit.

I'm in a similar situation with my dad who died.. umm.. 15 yrs ago. It's something that if you fully cry about it before the wedding and make yourself think about everything that you aren't going to experience b/c he's not there.. it will be a little easier the day of.
At least that's what I'm hoping for...

I know exactly how you're feeling 'cause I lost my mom a few years ago. Do u have any brothers that might be able to walk you down the aisle, or maybe a close uncle?

I feel your pain! My mom passed away 21 years ago, and my dad has not been in my life for over 35 years! FH's mom also passed away 15 years ago. We thought about having a memorial candle or something like that for our mom's but we knew it would make us both just total emotional wrecks so we opted against it.

I was in the same situation as you. I got married in March and my dad had died 18 years ago. Is there some way that maybe you can incorporate some things that remind you of him? I had a picture of my parents on their wedding day placed on the escort card table, I had the girls carry pink carnation bouquets (my dad had given me a bouquet of pink carnations the week before he died), I had pink carnations in my bouquet, and I made all the groomsmen wear pink carnations as bouteniers, I also wore the bracelet my dad gave my mom for their first anniversary and his wedding band on my right hand the day of my wedding.

I chose to get married on my parents wedding anniversary as a way to honor him and them. My uncle who was my dad's best friend is walking me down the aisle. Maybe a memory candle we'll do. I feel better now. Sometimes wedding planning and PMS will make you crazy.

I know how you feel.. I lost my dad 4 years ago and it's still hard to think about him not being there... what are you guys doing to honor your parents who past?
Also.. are you putting their name on your invitation and if so.. how would you word it?

I am thinking of using memory candle , we are getting marry on what would have been my parents 35th wedding anniversary so I think I will have that mentioned in the program and the slideshow. The wording is tricky on the invite because of FH family situation with step parents and divorces so I will have to work that out.

He'll be there - just not in the physical sense but he'll be there.

I'm having the same feelings. My mom passed away 6 years ago and It's been really hard with all the planning because when I was growing up my mom and I always used to talk about the day I get married.
Your father will be with you that day and want you to be happy and enjoy it. Always remember that even though you can't see them, that he is always with you.
I'm having a hard time too trying to figure out what to do as a memorial.

Awww HUGS for you! It is a hard time, but focus on the positive and know that he is there for you, and watching you take every step.

We are in the same boat. My dad passed 4 years ago. It hits me at very random times. I plan on getting a boK charm with his picture. I don't want to do to many things because I want it to be a happy day and not have that sad feeling touch every part of my reception.
