It's Christmas Eve and my tree is dead!!!!!
My tree is sooooo dry even though I have been watering it every day! What gives! I am afraid to plug in the lights tonight! Has this happened to anyone else????
Well, Merry Christmas to all!

Did you cut the bottom of the stump before you put it in the stand?

Why do you say its 'dead'? Its normal for it to be a little dry since it IS dead afterall. As long as it still looks green, it should be okay for a few more days - then you can toss it.

Re: It's Christmas Eve and my tree is dead!!!!!
That happens to us every year (except this year-we got an artificial one). Our apt is so hot and dry in the winter, our poor trees never have a chance. We'd always cut a few inches off the trunk, we'd constantly checked the water...still by Christmas Eve, our tree would be drooping and loosing tons of needles. You should be ok turning the light on-if they are indoor lights, they shouldn't get too hot. Just turn 'em off before you go to sleep or leave the house.
Merry Christmas! Hope there are lots of presents under the tree for you!!

Re: It's Christmas Eve and my tree is dead!!!!!
Thanks! My DH had to trim the trunk about 8 inches for it to fit in our house! I watered it every day and it still drops TONS of needles even with the slightest breeze. It is brittle to the touch and looks dead!I guesss I'll try again next year!
Thanks ss2002! You too!
