It's CRUNCH TIME-HELP NEEDED!

Ok, the deal is that I'm 4 months from getting married and have a dress and it's too small. I have been saying for 7 months down, no big deal, I will lose 30 lbs and be fine. Well guess what folks..it aint happening..its my own lazy a$$ fault..

So the plan is starting tommorow, I'm going BACK to the gym..I am aiming for 6 times a week but no less then 4 no matter WHAT.

Now what I need help with is the diet. I dont need to hear oh just eat properly etc..that aint gonna get me 30 lbs off in 3 months in time for fittings..
SOOO...based on everyone's experience...for a fast weight loss, healthy or not ( hopefully healthy) Whats the best?
I have has results on Atkins, South BEach, low cal, low fat etc...BUT i always tend to come off them. What Im looking for now, it the one that I will lose the MOST weight on, since I cannt fail again unless I wanna go buy a new dress..

THANK YOU...And pretty please..HELP ME!

Re: It's CRUNCH TIME-HELP NEEDED!

i second the personal trainer idea. i don't have one, but i have a friend that does and after a few months of working out she looks amazing! i'm so impressed. unfortunately money is very tight for me right now so i can't get one, but maybe someday. cost just depends on who you go to i think.

Re: It's CRUNCH TIME-HELP NEEDED!

you're looking at 2-3 pounds a week... first of all, the gym is an absolute MUST in this situation!! what is your current fitness level?

as for diet, i'm a huge proponent of weight watchers - the points system is easy to use, and allows you to eat anything as long as you record it. on it i think you'd have the least chance of relapsing - any diet that requires a drastic change in eating habits (like no carbs) is going to be hard to follow, imo.

4 months is a long time, and i'm sure you can get close to 30 pounds off by then!!

Re: It's CRUNCH TIME-HELP NEEDED!

Caloric intake is very important. You need to make sure you're not eating too much or too little either. It's hard for me to say how many calories you should eat because I don't know how much you weigh or what your fitness level is, but I'll give you a ballpark figure of 1400 calories. Try it for a couple of weeks along with your exercising and see how that works.

As far as what to eat, you need to cut out sugar and as many starchy carbs as you can. Eat complex carbs such as brown rice, slow-cooked oatmeal, whole grain breads, etc. You can eat pasta but eat it as a side dish, not the main part of the meal.
And of course eat veggies and lean proteins (tuna, chicken, lean red meats, turkey, ground chicken, fish). Stay away from greasy foods. Try not to eat processed foods or 'quick' foods.

Eating a proper diet takes a LOT of work but with enough research, you'll learn how to eat properly. And make sure that you do plenty of cardio! The more cardio you do, the more calories you'll burn, and the more weight you'll lose. And don't just get on the bike and read a book. You have to really work! Lift weights too. Adding muscle means that you'll burn even more calories.

Drink water! Add some lemon to it or some people add apple cider vinegar. It's supposed to help slightly with fat burning.

Good luck! You can do it!

Re: It's CRUNCH TIME-HELP NEEDED!

Ok guys ..thanks for the advice..

Heres my deal..LOL..
WW doesnt seem to work for me, tried it a few times, never lost more then 10 lbs in like 5-7 months!

I cant afford a personal trainer but I belong to the gym and am planning on doing cardio and weights for about an hour a night 6 days a week.

BAsically I'm wondering what people think is better...low cal...or low carb. BOTH have worked for me, but I dont know which to choose now..If I go low cal...WW dinners and such works well for me ( I have a tendancy NOT to eat enough) , but they are high in carbs??

Re: It's CRUNCH TIME-HELP NEEDED!

Have you gone to the gym yet since your first post?

The amount of carbohydrates you should eat depends on you activity level. You shouldn't deprive your body of carbs at all. Just eat them in moderation, and the RIGHT ONES. Low glycemic carbohydrates are what you should be eating, like oats, grains, breads that are made from stone ground flour, NOT ENRICHED!!!. If anything says enriched, don't buy it! Or at least avoid it as much as possible.

When you eat carbs you should ALWAYS eat them with protein. If you go to the gym regularly (4-6 days per week) you need at least .8 grams of protein per lb. of body weight. I would work off that number, then add carbs (veggies, whole grains) to get to your proper caloric intake for the day. Spread out your meals. Try to eat 4-6 mini meals per day. This could be a hand full of nuts, with a rice cake, or some fruit, or some cottage cheese(good for protein). Just try to eat the protein with the carbs together.

And don't skip the gym. get a personal trainer, and tell him to push you. Don't waste yur time at the gym doing lots of reps, and the same exercises avery other day. Do heavy (8-12 reps max) wieghts and cardio.

This is a life style change. Everyone I know who has followd this has never regrated it, and loves their new lifestyle.

DON'T STOP AFTER THE WEDDING!!!!!!! DO this for your life, not for your wedding day.

Good luck!!

Re: It's CRUNCH TIME-HELP NEEDED!

I know the trainer thing is expensive (so would a new dress though--and this is a healthier option!) does your gym have 'group training'? I've seen where a personal trainer works with anywhere between 5-10 people at a time, but you get teh structure and the personal attention. My best friend from home had a personal trainer for the last few months before her wedding, she looked awesome!! She later told me that she actually weighed the same, she just lost inches (which I couldn't believe, she looked very thin to me!)

Good luck! You can do it!!!
