Giving flowers to the blessed mother and parents at the ceremony.
Had lots of Italian food and Seafood, plus the full Viennese Hour with loads of Italian pastries and cakes.
Had some Italian music played by my Band.
I danced with my father to 'Lauretta Mia' but had the band sing it as 'Fiorenza Mia'.
My husband danced with his mom to 'Le Mamme'.
And lastly, I had the 5 jordan almond confetti attached to the top of our Favors.
im doing to flowers to the blessed mother too. and all the seafood you can eat lol

Re: Italian Brides
We tried to have the food geared towards the Italian crowd. We had the Vienese hour. Half our reception music was Italian. We had confetti on our bomboniere. I danced with my father to 'Figlia Mia'
We did not have the chickem dance because I hate it but I'm not so sure it is not Italian. My sicilian family knows it and I have an Al Bano and Romina album that has 'Il ballo di qua qua' on it.

If your ITALIAN,,,I am more than sure your father would love to dance with you to 'Lauretta mia'..thats every italian fathers dream song... also for wedding songs 'vivo per lei'.
AS far as tradition,,the food!! We are having the seafood boat and also the Vianese hour and adding some extra's..like 'tripe' (not a favorite of mine)...
Any of you girls cutting the ribbon before you walk out of your door from your house before you leave for church?
we will be using both those songs at our wedding along with some otheres. i have heard of cutting the ribbon. not sure if i am gong to do that yet...and of course the food and almonds....

I don't think this reflects heritage but my mother-in-law insisted that I wear the Italian horn SOMEWHERE on my body to keep away evil eyes and jealous thoughts. (Malorchia-can't spell it but it's something like that) I pinned it to my garter.
i have heard of that i am going to do the same thing on my wedding day...... i wore mine at y engagement party also.

This is done for babies too. It's to rid the 'evil eye' otherwise known as 'mal occhio'
My mom gave me a red ribbon to wear at my e party too.
Where in Italy is everyone from? My family is from Naples- Torre del greco

Re: Italian Brides
hi everyone. I'm not doing anything not already mentioned. But had to chime in because I am an Italian Bride!! and damn proud of it.
Me and my Dad are dancing to Lauretta Mia. and one thing that's probably different than everyone else is that we're not getting married in a church! we're having our ceremony at the Vineyards
My mom passed away, so I'm definitely doing something in her memory. But, that's not really an Italian thing...

My mother is from Viciano, Naples and my father is from Carini, Sicily. They were both born there and came to the US as teenagers. I feel if your 1st generation, your brought up with same tradtions and values...and that is why it is nice to include them in your wedding..out of respect for your parents and family......

Re: Italian Brides
It's Figlia Mia - it means 'my daughter' in Italian.
That's exactly why I chose it!

Re: Italian Brides
My husband and I honored our heritages by naming our tables after Italian (me) and Irish (him) counties/provinces. On the table cards and seating cards we printed an image of either country as well. Everybody loved the personalization!
my parents are both from italy, near Naples in a town called Durazzano..
oh ..and I like the idea about naming the tables after Italian cities...

Re: Italian Brides
I am having an Italian band (armonia) are there any songs that should definitely be played at an Italian wedding?
