The chicken dance is not an 'italian' tradition,,,more like an 'american' tradition...

Actually, it's a polka, so it's probably German or Polish...it's so NOT an 80's thing! We used to do it at Bavarian Festivals when I was a toddler!

jordan Almonds signify five wishes for the bride and groom: health, wealth, happiness, fertility, and longevity. These almonds decorate each place setting as favors, tucked into pretty boxes or tulle bags called *bomboniere* that are often personalized with the couple's names and wedding date.

We had an Italian/American band...Mirage Music. They were excellent.

We did the Jordan Almonds in church and on our favors.

Our first dance was 'Vivo per lei' and I danced with my father to an Itailan song called Fia Mia..I think that's how you spell it.

We're having the full mass...as for the reception I will have Italian music played...not sure if we're getting someone who specializes in it (accordian players) to come in for a bit...

it sounds funny when your read it...but if your parents listen to the old Italian music then you know exactly what I mean when I say accordian player...lol

We're also putting Jordan almonds (confetti) as a little treat to go with the donation, having espresso stations, along with the tradition liquors that go with it...sambucca, grappa, cognac...

It's Figlia Mia - it means 'my daughter' in Italian.

I'm first generation Italian and the chicken dance is not an Italian tradition...its more like an american 'mockery' on Italian music and dance...according to my grandmother...lol

Just playing some traditional songs that the family will appreciate and apparently the chicken dance (traditional?????) is a must

So funny-- the chicken dance is a must for my family too! Go figure! Actually an old Italian aunt of mine used to play a version sung in Italian for me when I was little. I have no idea where she got it from!

We're having what I believe to be the BEST Italian band - the Carozza Bros. I think that qualifies as enough.....

MY FH is TRYING to convince me that the Chicken dance is an ITALIAN tradition The answer is STILL no........

I don't know where this comes from...my mom insists that the family will be very dissapointed if we don't have it. I honestly don't think it's an Italian tradition but my 80 year old italian relatives all do it...figure that one out?!?

If you go to Italy they have no idea what the chicken dance is. It is an italian-american thing!!

We had a full mass, I left flowers at the blessed mother. We had Jordan Almonds. I carried a buste bag. We danced the Tarantella and E cumpare and ate and drank Italian food and liquor.

Mine wasn't as hardcore as my best friend's wedding, though, since my DH is off-the-boat Polish (he came here when he was 13) and his family is all Polish.

My best friend's wedding was the only one I have ever been to that had 3 young women named Giuseppa.

At the Cermony we presented the flowers to the Blessed Mother and our parents and we had some of the Mass/readings in Italian.

At the Reception we had it at an Italian catering hall with assortiment of Italian food, had some Italian music and we also did the confettis (Jordan Almonds) we gave them out when when the guests said good night to us as they left.

The Italian things I had or did were:

Giving flowers to the blessed mother and parents at the ceremony.

Had lots of Italian food and Seafood, plus the full Viennese Hour with loads of Italian pastries and cakes.

Had some Italian music played by my Band.

I danced with my father to 'Lauretta Mia' but had the band sing it as 'Fiorenza Mia'.

My husband danced with his mom to 'Le Mamme'.

And lastly, I had the 5 jordan almond confetti attached to the top of our Favors.

Hi - I am looking for a good place to order the jordan almonds.

Can you please tell me what sites I can check out? Also are there any that are chocolate covered and then coated white?

Feel free to FM me if you'd like.

TIA!!
