Andrea bucelli and Laura pausini.
I love them.

The chicken dance is not italian tradtion.
It's a little on the 80's side.

Here are some things I did:
Antipasto, confetti (Jordan almonds - odd number. I chose 5) , touring the tables, buste bag (for envelops), Anisette and sambuca and other Italian liquors, cannolis and other desserts.

Our wedding is going to be very Italian and Greek as FH and I are 1st generation Italian and Greek. We'll have music from both cultures, favors w/ confetti and lots of Italian food.

Anyone dancing to an Italian song for the father/daughter dance? If so, what song?

I don't know where this comes from...my mom insists that the family will be very dissapointed if we don't have it. I honestly don't think it's an Italian tradition but my 80 year old italian relatives all do it...figure that one out?!?

Re: Italian Brides

I don't think this reflects heritage but my mother-in-law insisted that I wear the Italian horn SOMEWHERE on my body to keep away evil eyes and jealous thoughts. (Malorchia-can't spell it but it's something like that)
I pinned it to my garter.

Re: Italian Brides

I'd really like to have an Italian-themed father-daughter dance. I like Jerry Vale's 'Non Dimenticar' but apparently it has funny connotations to my dad.

I've never heard Lauretta -- though I googled it and found lyrics. Does anyone know a site where I can download it?

Also I'm going to frame my great-grandparents' wedding invitation, which is all in Italian except for the address that says 'Navy Yard, Brooklyn,' and display it along with parents' wedding photos at the reception.

Re: Italian Brides

Definitely!!! We're definitely going to have the hour long Mass (and maybe in Italian), tarantella, 'lauretta mia', but I'm gonna have the band change it to 'Caterina Mia' (my name). My FI is gonna dance to 'Le Mamme'. LOTS of Italian food w/ a Grand Vienesse Hour, jordan almonds, etc. I really like Italian music, so I definitely want to hear quite a few songs.

Also, an Italian bridal party can be so hysterical. When I was a bridesmaid @ my cousin's wedding there were 2 Caterina's, 2 Rosa's, 2 Maria's besides the other girls- as for guys, 4 Anthony's (including my cousin), 2 Sal's and 2 Baldo's besides the other guys. It was hysterical when the band announced us. And that's an Italian Wedding...lol.

Re: Italian Brides

If your ITALIAN,,,I am more than sure your father would love to dance with you to 'Lauretta mia'..thats every italian fathers dream song... also for wedding songs 'vivo per lei'.

AS far as tradition,,the food!! We are having the seafood boat and also the Vianese hour and adding some extra's..like 'tripe' (not a favorite of mine)...

Any of you girls cutting the ribbon before you walk out of your door from your house before you leave for church?
