please tell me about your favors..... my mom is giving us such a hard time. We were originally going to do cordial glasses.... but she doesnt like them. my escort cards are bottles of limoncello so im trying to stay with the whole 'alcohol' theme. I was looking up decanters as well but i keep hitting dead ends....
** the only reason why i labeled it Italian brides is because they understand how important the bomboniere is to their parents... but advice from anyone is appreciated***
Thoughts???? FH absolutely loves these.... i need to convince my mom that 4 is more than enough.... and a set does not need to be 6!!! pray for me! LOL

Re: italian brides
oh i know how frustrating this could be in an italian family. FH suggested early in the planning process that we do donations and i swear it was like in a movie with the record scratching it just got quiet, i thought my mother was going to lose her mind
anyway we decided to do something seasonal and fallish so we're giving out leaf-shaped bottles of maple syrup from a farm in vermont. it fits with the overall theme too because everything for the wedding is very rustic/woodsy

Re: italian brides
My FH doesn't seem to understand this either since he's Irish/German LOL..he's given up trying to understand my family and just accepts them for their tons of food, loud talking, always kissing way of life!
We're doing large wine bottles (red and white) with a luggage tag attached.

Re: italian brides
i like the idea but if they are totally against it, then lets move on, lol. how about an espresso cup set - D'Lusso has a ton to choose from and they are easy to find online. we ended up going with a set of 4 ceramic ice cream bowls and ice cream cones (they looked like chocolate covered cones with sprinkles) DH & I are both Italian and my mom didn't care one way or another but my MIL wanted to make sure whatever we got didn't look cheap!

Re: italian brides
OMG where was I when this was posted yesterday Lizzie!!??? All Italians know that the only highlight of the wedding is the Mikasa glass dish or espresso set you will get to bring home.
You know what, my Mom and Grandmother almost had a heart attack when I told them we would NOT be doing favors. Although they didn't say anything about it, the look on their faces said enough. It's our wedding, and we will do a donation if we want to!!
We are attaching truffles from Afresh approach to the donation tags as a compromise, sorta...

Re: italian brides
first it was d'lusso espresso sets (about $7 each)
then it was spoon rests (about $4 each)
then pasta servers (about $2 each)
now, we've decided to do nothing - we bought a house and both sets of parents agree that favors are stupid and a waste of money at this point - thank god they agreed on something!
we might do a donation instead
