Italian GreyHound

Who here has the Italian Greyhound- is it a breed you would recommend...?

Re: Italian GreyHound

I don't, but my cat's previous Vet had one. She was beautiful - very, very, very hyper...yet timid at the same time. Good dog for people with allergies - the Vet, funnily enough, is really allergic to cats and dogs and sought this breed b/c they aren't a big allergen trigger. So he said...

I do, I do, I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's the love of my life. If you are the type of person who is willing to sleep with your dog under the covers snuggled very close to you every night, and is willing to keep your dog toasty warm at all times, an iggy is the way to go. I've never felt more love from a dog as I do from my little Wiggy Iggy. I need to figure out how to resize pix so i can post.

Jordan, how is your vet a vet if he has allergies? I wish I could work with animals but I'm tooooooo allergic! Everyone laughs at me bc I'm such an animal lover but I can't be within a foot radius or I'm sneezing ans wheezing all over the place. It is a good breed for allergies, but not as good as a dog with fur like a bichon frise, poodle, or maltese.

awe how cute is he! I want one so bad.

Let me ask you- do you think I would be able to put an Iggy in a bag and bring it to work w. me?

Re: Italian GreyHound

I can't talk for all greyhounds .... but there's no way in HELL i would get wiggles in a bag. I tried this for a really long time and you'd think i was trying to bake him he would scream so loud. plus, iggies are really long ... they have long legs i should say ... so you'd have to get a big bag. if you want a bag dog, get a maltese or chihuahua.

what if I trained it from puppy? Still a no-go on the bag? I would get the bag that is open on top so s/he can stick his head out.

Re: Italian GreyHound

I only have one iggy to go by, so I can't say ... but I don't think iggies are bag dogs. They like to run around and jump and granted, they like to snuggle, but I don't think they'd snuggle in a bag. I may be wrong though. My dog has confinement issues. he likes to be out and free at all times because he thinks he's human. I tried from the time I got him but he was already 7 mos.

Also, Sassy, I don't know where you work, but I don't think an IG will sleep under your desk all day. My dog does sleep most of the day but sometimes gets very hyper and jumps all over the place. Anyway, good luck with your decision. If you are a real dog person, you will love an IG. Oh, another thing, if you freak out about dogs on furniture, don't get an IG either. All they want to do is snuggle and be cozy.

I work in an office that already has a Silky terrier running around with a boston terrier next door-so there would be tuns of friends for the IG
