Italy anyone?

Who has gone or booked their HM for Italy? Where did you go? For how long? What kind of hotels did you stay in (5-star or less)? Approximately how much did it cost? Thanks!

We booked Italy for 2 weeks, May 26th-June 9th.
Rome-Hotel Romanico Palace
Venice-Hotel Rialto
Positano/Almafi Coast-Buca di Bacco
*I believe they are all 4-star hotels*

I would have to get back to you on the cost, bc I honestly left FH in charge!

We booked through Itaviaggi Travel in Queens.

Re: Italy anyone?

It wasn't a honeymoon trip, but FH and I went to Italy this past summer.

We booked everything on our own. We stayed in the Albergo Ottocento in Rome and the Saturnia in Venice. I'm not sure of the ratings, but they were a bit pricey because we were there during the peak season. We also went to Florence, but I'm drawing a blank on the name of the hotel.

It was very difficult finding our way around Rome. If you can find a Hagstrom-style map (the kind with an index of the street names with references to grid numbers) before you go, that would probably spare you a few headaches!

I finally remembered the name of the hotel in Florence. It was the Albani Firenze. It was about one block from the train station and walking distance to most of the main sites and shopping! Two of the restaurants we went to in Florence were outstanding . . . La Congrega and La Casalinga. The Casalinga is popular with the locals and the staff spoke limited English, but the prices were very reasonable.
