Don't know exactly where in Italy you plan to go, but here are some things that I think should not be missed:

ROME:
Collisuem
Spanish Steps
Trevi Fountain

VENICE:
Gondola ride in the Grand Canal (you have to kiss under the bridge of sighs - legend has it that if you kiss you sweetheart while under the bridge you will be together forever).
Rialto Bridge - great shopping
St. Mark's Plaza at night - great entertainment and food.

FLORENCE:
The entire city is beautiful and full of gorgeous art and musuems - if you don't want to spend the whole honeymoon in museums at least go see the Duomo and the Giotto's Bell Tower.
The Vineyards in Florence/Tuscany.

CAPRI:
Blue Grotto

Hello Ladies! We are thinking about renting a villa in Tuscany for our HM. Does anyone know anything about this?

One more thing. If you want to do research on Italy I would reccommend buying a book on Italy. Just pick one up at the travel section of any book store. Frommer's and Lonely Planet are great.

Re: ITALY-The official thread!!

yeks I was looking at the site and a lot of the hotels don't even have A/C, cable or bathrooms! Thank goodness my MOH is stationed in Italy and told my FH and I we were more than welcome to stay with her for our honeymoon!

I also love the Amalfi Coast. It's so beautiful there and should not be missed!

Re: ITALY-The official thread!!

We're going to Italy on your honeymoon, but we need to book! My one question is: if we decide not to do a tour and want to visit and stay in 3 or 4 cities, is transportation easy?

Thanks!

Any recommendations on TAs?

Re: ITALY-The official thread!!

My one suggestion is to definetely hit the Amalfi Coast. It is amazing. Especially Positano...that was my favorite. And you can take a boat over to Capri from here. Absolutely wonderful!!!

OMG I'm sooo glad I found this thread. Anyone have a travel agent that they're using to book the trip? I was going to plan all by myself but I have too much else on my plate with the wedding and buying a house.

THx!

Re: ITALY-The official thread!!

My mother and I did an Italy Rail tour which was fantastic.... what it did was give us the air, hotel, and inbetween transport which were all on our own....Then it gave a us one morning tour in rome, venice, and florence.... it was a great trip because we were not stuck with a group but we got to see just enoughOur Tour

I would just recommend going for the 1st class hotels
