IT'S A.........

Alexander Miguel was born on March 31st at 8:52am (GMT). 7lbs 4oz & 19.5 inches

Alex decided to arrive ahead of schedule. He is absolutely perfect and I will post pictures soon. I wanted to share my story so here it goes:

On Wednesday I lost my mucus plug and was having mild contractions all morning. Went to the DR and he said they could be braxton hicks or the real thing and to see how it goes. By 4pm they were coming every 5 minutes and were lasting about 25 seconds. At 6pm went to the hospital and was told, sorry your not in labor. So home I went. By 9pm contractions were ever 4 minutes lasting b/w 45seconds and 1 minute. So we went back to the hospital. Where I was admitted, didn't dialate until 12am. They broke my water and 10 minutes later I was in my birthing room receiving my epidural. I don't know how it works at home, but here you don't have to wait, I was only 1cm when I got it. However it didn't work and after 2 hours the DR wanted to redo it so we did and WOW what a difference. I wasn't even feeling the contractions anymore. I highly recommend an epidural. DH said I was like a new woman. I actually got some sleep. By 3am I was only 2cm so they started oxycotin to help my labor along, but it didn't agree with the baby so they had to stop it. By 8am I was fully dialated and still not feeling any contractions due to the epidural. So the nurses had to tell me when to push and he was born after 40 minutes of pushing at 8:52am.

I spent 3 nights in the hospital and it was wonderful, the nurses are so helpful. They help you with breastfeeding. I had a private room and you keep the baby with you all the time, there isn't a nursery. Each woman takes care of her own baby. DH thought my room was like a hotel room. The care was great, I want to have all my babies in Ireland. Overall it was a great experience.

Baby and I are doing great, he is breastfeeding like a champ and sleeping really well! DH and I are completely in love!!!
