its amazing how much things are marked up!

FH and i went looking at florists yesterday and it just shows you that these places mark up their prices sooo much!

one florist we went asked what our budget was.. so i said we would like to be under 3000.

so he added everything up and said it came to $3950 and then took some $ off (wihtout us even saying anything) and it came to 3100 and then says - ill match your budget at 3000. Now come on!!!! it just sickens me because of course he is STILL MAKING money off this deal but is telling me that it WOULD be 3900?

has anyone experienced something like this.

we went to 3 places and they all quote you such different amounts for the same thing

Sounds like a place I went to. He quoted me 3800 and then asked what my budget was. Which I also said under 2800 and he said ' he didnt know if he could do it for that price'
Mind you he didnt ask me what I wanted he told me what I wanted. SO I told him Thanks but no thanks.

Wow all for the same flowers? It sounds like you got a good price on the 2400. Are you going to book that place. It's weird because the other two are around the same well after he 'knocked it down for you' and that one is MUCH lower

well the 2 other places said i could have whatever flowers i want since its august anything is possible and that they wont charge me for the flowers but for the piece itself - so i can have all combos of stuff.. this place i was talking about never mentioned how i could have such a different variety but all of them were basically quoting me for the same centerpieces.

we are def going with the cheaper and they do great work

wow those are some really different quotes! I got quoted approx the same amount from all the florists. I chose mine because it is where I felt most comfortable. FM me if you want info

I think that's the tricky part...I am in sales and my favorite thing is when someone tells me what they want to pay for an item...this way I know I can drop it just a little under and they will give me the business. I always make so much more money that way.

In my opinion its sometimes best to have them tell you what they can do first before giving them your buget especially when you know what you want in flowers....have them work for it...this way they give you a price that they have to do good on and if it's too high you tell them and watch the scurry to do better...and if you are lucky their original numbers will be lower then what you wanted to pay

Yea it's crazy...I never told them a budget, but was looking to spend less than $5000. I was quoted $3000 and reffered my cousin to the same florist...she has less tables, smaller BP, but told him her budget was $3000 and that's how much it came out too! Coincidence??

That's exactly what happened when I went to one florist consultation!! The guy asked what my budget was, then said 'ohh well that's really conservative' which was $2,500 - $2,800 by the way! Then he proceeds to tell me what I want and need, before I know it the estimate is over 3K. Meanwhile I go back to Pedestal's and get pretty much the same thing for 1K + CHEAPER!!!!

I felt like these vendors pray on our inexperience with planning a wedding, and tricking us into thinking this is the norm..... It's really scary.... ya gotta do research and go to many, many places before making your final decision!

that was pretty much what happened to us. i HATE telling my budget because i always fear that they will tell me its a lot more money but then look like the hero by knocking the price down - and that just lookes ridiculous to me

i know this florist told me it was 3900 and it prob wasnt - just so he can look like he saved me all this money by meeting my budget

I went to one florist and didn't give a budget at all. I only need ceremony flowers since I am making my own candle centerpieces. He adds it up at the end and says, ok, it comes to $960 but I'll give it to you for $575. WHAT????? The other two people I got quotes from said it was $550 without 'discounting' me $400. I didn't go with him
