it's an old cliche under your Monet baby

it's an old cliche under your Monet baby

do you think that there is ever a moment, beside death, when you have reached your 'last chance' for something?

like, there is one decision/event that you make and from there, you are stuck forever in the state in which you thrust yourself? no matter what you do, your fate to be happy/sad/miserable/elated is sealed by this one thing?

Yes. Not too many - but a few.

Like the day you should have sexed the hell out of that hot irish guy in Dublin but your travelmate totally c*ckblocked you and dragged you out of the bar because you were to slow in sealing the deal.

Or the time you were offered an amazing opportunity to study in Paris... but you let your passport expire and didn't leave enough time to get a new one - and suddenly you woke up 14 years later with 4 kids wondering where the time went.

Or the day you were going to go to the hospital to visit your mom and bring her the italian ice that she liked and kiss her forehead before she went to bed.. but it was raining and you were tired.. and the next day your sister called to tell you she had passed away and all you could think of when you saw her was that her forehead wasn't warm anymore.

Or the time you decided to keep the baby and suddenly realized that parenting is insanely difficult..

Maybe the time you decided to put that patch on ... only to realize mid menopause that you truly want a baby from your own body.

As to your fate being in any kind of perpetual state... no. Moments - events - people ... they do not seal our fate. Outside forces are not the keepers of our happiness or sadness. That's us. We do it.

When you lose your virginity. It's gone, poof and you are instantly changed; at least by societies standards. You have no more chances at being a virgin.

Becoming a parent. Once you create a child you are part of something bigger than yourself. While I am not one yet I can only imagine the awe felt when seeing your child for the first time. Any way you deal with it a pregnancy changes you. Is your fate sealed by it? I don't think our fate is sealed. Not completely anyway. I would like to hope I have some control over the way my life progresses.

cool thread.

I believe very strongly in that - thats why decision making is very crucial for me...

I feel that the stars line up just so in your life for each decision... but everything has its own path and happens for a reason...

Short of steel bars, the most powerful prison is one that your mind can create.

Jeannie speaks for me.
