It's booked!!! We're going to Italy!

Rome, Florence (Tuscany), and Venice - for 10 days this summer (not august).

Of those 3, the only place I've been to is Rome, and that was for a very short time about 5 years ago.

So tell me guys - I know many went there on their honeymoons- what are the best places to eat? Best things to see? Anyone have any 'MUST SEE's?

Also, we're staying at
Hotel Cosmopolita - Rome
Hotel Baglione- Florence
San Marco Palace- Venice

Any feedback?!

Definitely explore the Tuscan countryside. Montelpulciano is beautiful, as are the towns surrounding it. Have fun! Italy is wonderful.

On a side note...FH is 'not invited' - my parents wanted this to be our last family trip before we all marry off and move out I'm gonna miss him so much!!!

eta: I'm looking for travel Italy chat forums now, to get some insider information about the best things to do... anyone know of any offhand? If not, I'll just continue to google.

I have never been - but I wanted to say I am so jealous - always wanted to go to Italy, Tuscany especially - have fun!

Please ... I would be an emotional basketcase if my parents put it like that - even though they live in a different country than me now! The thought that I probably can't go home for Christmas next year makes me want to cry!

But that is SO exciting - I can't wait to go to Italy someday!

Tripadvisor.com has a forum that I like.

I love Italy. DH and I have been talking about going too, in August. Even though it's disgustingly hot then.

we'll be there in July = still hot, and Europe's A/C is NOT that of America's, but it was either Caribbean again, or Italy - both hot!!!

I have only been to Rome (of those on your list) and it was fun and nice but we didn't do any really fancy restaurants. I remember we had pizza at Est Est Est and we actually went to the Hard Rock Cafe in Rome just for the hell of it to see what it was like.

Dad has already said that he doesn't want to go to ANY 'fancy' restaurants --- he wants to eat in the places that the locals eat... he's big on that 'when in Rome' saying.... (no pun intended!!!!)
