Ok...I need help addressing people. FH's cousin is coming with his g/f of 3 years how do I address the inside envelope? They don't live together and I don't know her last name...

Mr. Smith and Guest
or
Mr. Smith and Name?

Also, my grandfather is bringing his lady friend should it be...they don't live together

Mr. Smith and Guest
or
Mr. Smith and Name?

finally, FH's friend lives with his girlfriend i dont' know her last name... should it be
Mr. Smith and guest
or
Mr. Smith and name

Is there anyway that you can contact the people to find out their addresses? If the couples had not been together for a long time I would have suggested Mr Smith & Guest. I would prefer Mr Smith & Ms X as it would be a little more formal.

I looked this up....the traditional way is:

Mr. Smith
Ms So and So

you put them on seperate lines with no 'and'..... but you can do whatever you like!!

If they have been together for a long time, I think it is rude not to have both names... I know it has bothered me in the past

Thanks! yes I agree. i think i'm going to just find out her last name.

do you think it would be bad on the inner envelope to just write their first names?

What I have been doing is that if the two don't live together (regardless of length of relationship_ it got:

Mr. John Smith and guest

And if they do live together:

Mr. John Smith and Ms. Jane Doe

I was very upset that my FH's cousin put me as guest on the invitation since we live together and were engaged.

I believe it is proper etiquette only to use and if they are married and have different last names.

No matter how long they have been together, if they are not married, and I don't think it matters if they live together or not is to put each on a separate line with no and

Married

Mr. John Smith and
Ms. Jane Doe

No married

Mr. John Smith
Ms. Jane Doe

I did some research on this as well. But please try and get everyone's last name or at least include the first name rather than guest, they will appreciate that more.
