I went dress shopping on Friday with my mom for the first time and I actually picked a dress! I always knew I was a decisive person but I'm still shocked I was able to decide so quickly!
We went to two shops - First stop was Angel Bridal in East Islip and the second was Village Bridal in Babylon. The lady who worked at Angel Bridal was super sweet but the store itself left much to be desired. I absolutely loved Village Bridal!
The first few dresses I tried on were AWFUL. I actually almost started crying because I was worried nothing was going to look good! My mom and I decided to bump up the price point (only by a few hundred) and the dresses begun to look so much better, thanfully!
I always thought I would end up in a A-line gown since I'm a hippy but the mermaid and trumpet styles actually looked better! The A-lines didn't look so great on me since I'm tall - it was an overwhelming look with lots of fabric on the bottom.
Anyway! I ended up selecting an Enzoani Blue gown. It's strapless, all lace (no embellishment) with a trumpet/fit&flare kind of shape. The best part is that the dress ended up coming in WAY below budget since they had a trunk sale going on. Because of that, we were able to splurge on a Jim Hjelm crystal belt (it may have cost ALMOST as much as the dress.... oops)
I'm so excited that I was able to find the dress so quickly! I just hope dress regret won't kick in as the date nears!

Congrats!! Beautiful dress! When did you go to Village Bridal? I was there this Saturday! I had a similar experience - I didn't think I'd like slimmer cut gowns and my consultant put one on me and it looked great! Now I'm all sorts of confused!

I actually kind of like the look of the cathedral length - how about you? Are you wearing a belt or sash with it?

I am wearing a belt but not the one that comes with it. I'll try to attach it. I also got buttons down the whole train. I'm thinking fingertip cascade style veil. I am having problems with either lace edging or thin shiny piping? What would you suggest?
That belt is SO pretty! And I didn't realize you could have the buttons go down the entire train...i like that idea! will you be having your belt sewn on so it doesn't cover the buttons?
I think the thin piping will look better because you don't want the lace from the veil clashing with the lace dress. I'm going to try to find a very simple veil. I also like fingertip length as well!

Yes I was going to have it sewn in as well. Good point w the veil. I cut ally tried it on at village and went to one more store adter and I bought/ordered it from there and I tried on a dress that had the buttons go l way down and I had to have it. So they called the designer Asked if they could do it
