It's starting (even before the wedding invites are out!)

It's starting (even before the wedding invites are out!)

So I'm helping my mom with my shower. My MOH is out of state and the rest of my bridesmaids are 15 and under. lol

So we just sent out the invitiations and we did traditional rsvps that you mail back because we sent recipe cards that we asked everyone to fill out and mail back with the rsvp (we are going to make the recipes into a cookbook as a favor. Meanwhile, no one is sending them back with the rsvps, so that's a whole other problem).

Anyway, we get one back yesterday where FMIL's cousin added her daughter to the rsvp when only she was invited. We arn't having kids and her daughter is 4 years old.

So she writes her name and her daughter's name on the 'Names' line. On the 'number attending' line, she wrote a 1 and a 2 on top of each other And then under that she wrote the daughter's name a second time

Yes, I understand. You plan to bring your 4 year old who wasn't invited. No need to write her name twice.

Told all of this to FMIL and she seems to have no problem with it. Meanwhile, my mom is flipping because we didn't even ask the flowergirl!!

Sorry. Vent over. I am so not looking forward to the wedding rsvps if this is any indication!!

yikes! this is my biggest fear

im putting adult reception only on my wedding invites, to avoid this

Im sorry if I were you, Id have someone put this woman in her place, I think its extremely rude of people to add guests, especially children

explain to her nicely its an adult affair and not even the flower girl was invited

oh gosh that is so annoying. I'm so worried about this too and it's hard/awkward to approach ppl with this situation. but maybe talk to FH and ask him to talk to his mom about it and how youre having a no kids reception? good luck

maybe she put the 2 above the 1 because she expects her daughter to sit on her lap? e.g. don't worry, you don't have to feed her? just a thought.

sorry

I don't understand how people could be so clueless and pushy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it really annoys me. I had to invite FMIL's friend to the shower and then I had to invite her teenage daughter. W T F would she want to do at a stranger's shower???

I gave in because my FMIL is NOT pushy at all and hasn't asked for anything throughout this entire process so I just didn't fight her on it.

still.. I was like

This is what my mom and I are thinking.

Apparently she pulled this at FH's aunt's shower too. FMIL said they can just pull up a chair or something.

I'm like hello. Someone does actually have to pay for this kid to eat and it will be my mom.

FH doesn't seem to think it's a big deal either.

I would never in a million years do that. If I didn't have someone to watch my kid, I would RSVP no.

UUUUGGGHHH i feel your pain!!
i only invited my FH's uncle, wife and two OLDER daughters

they reply ' and family'

I ask my FMIL to make sure they know the 5 yr old twin terrors are NOT invited

well when my FMIL calls them- they have a BLOW OUT ARGUMENT saying we are PURPOSELY leaving out their kids and don't know the meaning of family

!#$(&!#$&(!$(!@#$

1) to keep numbers down, we invited FH's uncles w/ wives and older kids but EXCLUDED my extended family.
NONE OF MY aunts or uncles or cousin !!

2) I didn't even invite my two nephews, cause i honored my own age limit of 10 yrs of age

3) my FH's sister DIDNT EVEN INVITE any of that same uncle kids to her OCT wedding... I at least extended the invite to the older kids

sorry... this was your vent.. but I went crazy LOL
I just want you to know I understand
