Ive been a victim of a scam...kind of long

Original post by Saviry2000

Ok here's my story, a couple of weeks ago I receive a mail indicating that I have won a sweepstake( 3rd prize winning of $120,000 thousand dollars). I immediately called FH and told him about, he implied that we will talk about it later since he's at work, ok fine. Like he said we talk about it when he came home and I decided not to look into it, but he insist that I call; so the next day I did, I spoke to this lady and she confirm that I have won $120,000( WHAT $120,000) ok that's freaking awesome, so I started asking her questions and all her answers were satifactory to me. Ok here's the catch, they sent me a check for $1,997 and asked me to cash it then send it via moneygram back to them to cover taxes and fees so I did (stupid I know) but i was sold, she made it sound so real, I think im not the only idiot that was taken away by this offer.

So today I went online to my account and realize that my account was missing $1,997 after I have taken out $1,997 a couple of days ago to send out too them. OK WHAT THE HELL. I imediatelly called my bank and they told me that the check i have deposit was cleared but returned back to me, OK, AGAIN WHAT THE HELL, how can a bank clear a check without validating the check first, this *** on the phone indicated that the bank is only allow to hold a check for a length of time before they release the funds without validating the check, after hearing that I really felt like an IDIOT.

So to make a long story short, Im crying my eyes out because I have been taken for a ride I just lost $2,000 and I want it back. What hurts me the most I really didn't believe that they are people out there that would do this to me and WHY ME? to make it worst my mom calls me while im crying and ask me why im crying and I cant even that her anything because she will be like 'ARE YOU THAT STUPID, you don't have anything better to do with $2000 then to give it away' mind you I still have alot of vendors to payoff.

The bad thing is Im still crying I CANT BELIEVE.
sry, long but I had to share, please lady's be aware, don't be a greed like I was.

OMG that happened to me too. The guy was supposedly from Ireland and sent $7000, i was supposed to forward 5000 to his decorator. .. . yeah ok, we waited til it cleared which it never did. We gave the bank the e-mails between us and they're supposed to put in a complaint. . . I even got a job offering via e-mail that sounded like this too. . . . BEWARE of the whole 'using your own account' ALWAYS wait til checks clear when they are from unknown sources. . .

I'm really sorry this happened and hope you can get some compensation, too
