... that days after the Wedding, they woke up in a sudden panic, like 'Oh my God, what have i done!' They each told me (on different occasions) that the panic attack of all the life changing events that took place in ONE SINGLE DAY only lasted a minute tho - until they saw their new husbands and remembered that it was a GOOD change.
Did that happen to anybody else????
That just may happen to me. lol. I'm never good with change. And now suddenly - i'm gonna not only become a wife, but I'm moving away from New York & my family - the ONLY home I've ever known. Even though I'm really excited to begin that new life with FH, it's still a little freaky to think about suddenly. (at least I'm no where NEAR rethinking the marriage tho, he's my perfect match)

Re: I've had 2 separate friends tell me....
I have no doubt this will not happen to me ... we have been together 7 years and have lived together for 6. We know each other really well and have been making plans forever about our future. I'm very confident it's the right thing for me, and there's really not going to be much of a change for us since we've lived together for so long ... I mean feelings may get stronger because we are married, and little things like checking accounts and what not will change - but I don't expect much to .,..

I agree with you..while my relationship isn't 7 years, it's only 3, I don't expect much to change. I'm not usually a panic attack kind of person so hopefully I won't start now.

Re: I've had 2 separate friends tell me....
the day after our wedding I felt so many different things - like on the verge of tears at any given moment (and we lived together for 2 1/2 yrs before)
You just have a mix of emotions - its all over, your officially married, your no longer 1 - now your 2. I got all worked up when I put my dress in the bag and hung up his tux. I got over and wasnt actually upset, it was just very emotional
ETA: I also freaked in the limo on the way to the church and felt sick to my stomach until I got to DH at the alter. I am nothing like this so I was completly shocked

i'm not worried about that for myself...we've been together for over 3 years and we have lived together for 2.5...we're pretty much married already, just not officialy i'm sure that if you are ready then you are, and you would know in your heart if this wasn't the right thing to do

yeah, that makes a lot of sense! I was talking to my friend yesterday who JUST got back from her honeymoon and she was saying the same thing. She told me that that night after the wedding ,she just started crying. But she wasn't sad or upset... just very emotional.

Re: I've had 2 separate friends tell me....
my mom told me that before she got married she was like W-T-F am i doing? like the night before she was really nervous and even that day she was nervous - but my parents are still going strong 24 years later
i think my mom is the type that takes things very seriously - as do i - which can make us nervous hahahaha......
i could see it hitting you like a week later, like when you get home from the HM and are back into the swing of regular life - i could see waking up and feeling overwhelmed like OMG im married just because its like being back in reality.....but not in a bad way, just in a 'real' way...

Totally happened to me...after the HM. we got back and a few days later I was like 'O M G- I got married? Are you serious??!!' But I love Dh more than anything and we're very happy..it's just a big decision and the day of, everything happens soo fast, you don't realize it. And then you're on the HM..and it's all fun and sun.
We got home, and I was like WOW. But it's a GOOD feeling!

That is what everyone says happens but really it shouldn't. FH and I have been together for almost 10years so when people ask has life changed I say 'Nope just my last name'. Things shouldn't change and you shouldn't feel that way if it is meant to be then why have second thoughts after. If your are not sure now stop and don't go threw it. Rather have a breakup then a divorce.

I agree. I felt exactly the same after the wedding. We were happy together before, we were happy together after. Never did I have a single moment of doubt or panic. I usually get anxious with things changing - but to me this wasn't change, just a continuation of what we already had. I thought of our relationship the same before and after the wedding.

well even though its only been two weeks, and just getting back into our day to day routine, we have been living together for almost three years and have been together five, so there isnt much changing-just now there is no more wedding planning! we are excited to have more of a life now that we (me) have more free time!

nope! the next morning we woke up and it was like TAKE ME TO THE HONEYMOON! we didnt even have time to think about everything. When we were in the limo on the way to JFK we kept talking about how fun the wedding was. But i didnt get any panic or surge of emotions.
sometimes when DH comes home from work and throws his stuff on the kitchen table it hits me that he is coming home to ME and that we got married and vowed to be together forever. and it makes me happy but thats about it

I totally agree with you both, but I think you're missing what I said earlier. These girls that told me they had that moment of 'panic' NEVER had second thoughts about the marriage. They just had a moment of 'Oh my God - everything has changed in ONE DAY!!' They never told me that they regretted it at all, cause like i said before - the moment they saw their new husband, they were like 'oh yeah, it's a GOOD change'. It doesn't mean that they're having their doubts about it. And that wasn't my question: if anybody had doubts. Just if anybody did (or thinks they might) have that moment of 'Oh my God!'
And personally I don't think things will be the same at ALL. For me it's definitely not just going to be my last name changing. We obviously don't live together yet (neither did my two friends i mentioned earlier) so it IS a lot of changes. Being a wife does change a lot, if you haven't already been living like one.

FH and I have been together 7 years and living together for 6. I too am scared. I'm also scared that he's scared. I panicked when we got our license and I changed my name then changed it back with a hyphen. I drove the poor lady nuts!

we have been living together for a few years - i think about 3....but i think there will def be a change once we are married - not in our routine, or anything like that - but i feel like its a different state of mind, its official, i dont know, to me, i just think that it will feel different to be a wife - ive never been a 'wife' before - and ive never had a 'husband'....i can picture having a moment where i am like omg, im married - i have a husband - but for some reason i picture that happening well after the wedding - just because for me, a lot of times things dont feel real in the moment, it feels dreamy - the day of the wedding ill finally feel engaged and then on our 1 year anniversary of marriage ill finally feel married

It has been just over 2 weeks since our wedding and everything is wonderful. I love my husband. We have lived together for almost 4 years now. Just try to remember all of the reasons why you love your FH, everyone has scary dreams at some point in time, but they are just dreams.

Re: I've had 2 separate friends tell me....
I've had that moment, but in good ways. I kept thinking about how amazing it felt to have these changes take place and realized that it was the beginning of something amazing.
I did have OMG moments on my last Thanksgiving at home, Christmas and so on....it was weird to think about waking up WITHOUT my family. I then realized that I would wake up with my new family and felt so much better :)

hahaha... that's true. I'm the same way. Well I don't think it'll take me till our 1 year anniversary. But I still don't think it'll actually hit me that i'm a MARRIED WOMAN until I'm back in Colorado with him. It's gonna be an adventure, i think

That's what I've been feeling! Exactly. I keep thinking how strange (and kinda sad) it'll be to suddenly not have my family around, when I've been here with them my entire life. And I'm one of those sappy sentimental people, all like 'Aw, it's my last Christmas Morning waking up in this bed! My last birthday in this house, etc, etc, etc' But then thinking about sharing all these same things with this NEW family me & FH are beginning just gets me excited.
