I've seen it said before.. Is this supposed to happen?!

I tried my dress on & picked it up tonight to bring it home & I've seen it said before but is this something that's supposed to really happen that I don't love my dress liked I used to When I bought it I had the chance to buy the one on the rack, but I didn't want to so the sales girl told me to order a size or 2 larger being other girls tried the dress on & stretched the sample one out. Mine of course came about a size or 2 too big & I turned it into a sweetheart neckline also. which is what I really wanted. The major problem I'm facing is that I was told was the train is too heavy to bustle it!!!! So she told me I had to HOLD IT for dancing & everything!! When I purchased it & when I dropped it off to be altered, I was told I could have it bustled & it was beautiful!!!! I feel like now I should go to Davids Bridal & get a $99 dress or any bridal store now & get a sample to change into for the reception! Sorry this is long I don't know what to do though!!!


Edited to add... if you didn't have a bustle, Did you hold your dress all night or let it go & fear someone would step on it or ruin it

That's total BS....listen, my dress was satin and my train was 11 feet long with beaded work and silver embroidery and it was bustled ALL night! I had 13 different hooks for it to bustle, but it bustled.

Go find another seamstress becasue that's total BS!

I got the dress from David's Bridal. I took it somewhere else so I wouldn't have to pay an arm an a leg to have it altered. The dress came out beautiful but I feel like it lost all excitement to me because I heard it couldn't get it bustled. It's driving me crazy that it's night time & I can't call Davids Bridal right now to ask them & drag the dress there! I looked back thru Davids Bridal's website staring at my dress & all the reviews of every single bride loving it. I do love the dress, I guess now I'm just disappointed I can't bustle it like the way I originally saw

Have you ever heard of wedding dresser couture by vassa? I would check her out because my train is huge and so heavy but she is going to do a french bustle. It couldn't hurt to try right?

They'll alter my dress even tho I didn't buy it from there!?

Never heard of a dress not being able to bustle. Definitely go to another seamstress or back to David's, because the seamstresses at David's know how to alter the dresses they sell in the store.

Yep that's why I wrote it! I didn't buy my dress from there and she's altering the whole thing for me, including the bustle. She's so sweet too.

I am sure y can bustle it!

I'd bring it in DB and see what they say

I also had good work done by Tanya's Fine European Tailoring on my dress

Whar Davids Bridal did you go to? Try thw one in Massapequa they are great I had my dress altered there my sisters BM dresses and even my cousin

My dress was from DB and very poufy on the bottom. They knew exactly how to bustle it. I would take it back to DB and see what they say

I clicked on your page to see your dress, mine has a little bit of a larger poof & a lot of layers.

That sounds crazy... I cant believe that there is a dress that cannot be bustled.
I am sure you can find someone who can do it.

Someone has to be able to bustle it! I wouldn't stop until I tried every place. It may be too much work and not worth it money wise for the place that did the alterations and they are just telling you that they can't. Did you ask for a reason why it is physically no longer possible when they told you it would be? This is your dress, I wouldn't give up on it just yet!

When I tried the dress on at DB when I bought it I was told & shown how alterations would put the bustle. I brough it to my FSIL seamstress that has done amazing work for 25years & when I went for the first fitting she showed me how it would bustle. When I went to pick the dress up I asked her to bustle it to show my mom & she said no bustle, the dress is too heavy & will rip the dress. I am going to do a lot of calling around. & also try the place where my mom bought her dress.
