Hey, We went to go look at tuxes yesterday and the dude told me if my dress is ivory, then the guys should be wearing ivory shirts......this is fine, BUT he also said ivory shirts dont go w/grey/silver vests, which the groomsmen may wear! Anyone else hear this?

No. I have an ivory dress and I was planning on having my groomsmen wear ivory shirts with silver/grey vests. I hope that they can accommodate

I definetly think if you have an ivory dress the guys should have ivory shirts. i don't really see a problem with the silver/grey toned vests though, maybe they don't 'go' in his opinion...ask to see an example, but i think it would look fine.

only the groom needs to match you the other guys typically match your bridesmaids.

Those of you with diamond white dresses..
FYI I brought a swatch of mine to the store and it matched the WHITE samples and def didnt match the ivory at all

this is so funny....fh and i just started dealing with this this weekend. I HAD a white dress until adriennes ordered me the wrong dress and i had to buy a new one which turned out to be ivory....so after a post on here last week i realized we needd to change the shirt colors....gm's are wearing black so no problem...but fh was gonna wear grey/silver, but i personally dont think it would look great so we have to go there and switch....i think we might just go with a pewter???

my fh is wearing an ivory shirt with a silver tie...it looks fantastic together. He is not wearing a vest though.
just make sure the ivory is LIGHT...not too yellow, and that the silver is light also. you should be ok.

According to the mfg...my gown was Ivory. I brought in a swatch of my dress and WHITE matched it a LOT better than Ivory did. The Ivory looked very 'Yellow' next to it.

definetly take a swatch to the tux place my guys work ivory shirts with black ties and vests. some tux places only white or ecru colored shirts they are not really ivory. the ivory shirts matched my gown perfectly and i was happy with that. for diamond white gowns i would always go with white shirts. because the gown is going to come up as being white in pictures.

Dan from BJandDan here We are having ivory shirts with grey/silver vests and it looks fine. Just have someone try the full suit on and judge for yourself.

That's not true.
I wore an ivory dress, my DH wore a white shirt with an ivory tie and vest and it looked great. Also, the GM wore white shirts with a silver vest and tie.
Here is a pic of my DH's tux...
