I haven't selected my dress yet, but from what I've seen I feel like 'ivory' is a more flattering shade for most people than 'white'. Also most can't tell it's not true white unless white is incorporated into the wedding colors..
which brings me to my question.. I wanted picasso calls (partially white) for my BM's and my bok to be all white- stephanotis, callas, and roses.
Will this look bad? Or do 'white' flowers tend to be more 'cream/ivory' anyway?
I'm thinking of the most assinine details lately... lol

My dress is ivory and I am having Gardenias and Lily of the valley in the bo-k's. I wanted to keep with an ivory colored flower or softer white, so that it didn't stand out too much against the dress, however I think it really doesn't matter. No big deal, they are your flowers and your bo-k and you can do whatever you want :)

a lot of white roses have a yellow tint to them. but all in all i think that combo would look very nice with a ivory dress.

I don't think that would look silly. Add some cremes/ivory's into your bo-k. It should look beautiful.

My dress is ivory (it looks white) and my flowers are white (it looks ivory). Go figure! Anyway, it looks great together.

Don't know about all the flowers you referenced, but you'll see that most 'white' flowers are actually shades of cream or ivory. Most florists told me when I was looking that there are very few actual white flowers.

This is true. I have family in the floral business and I have worked in the business myself and there are very few actual white flowers. I had an ivory dress and my bouquest was white callas and stephanotis and it looked gorgeous.

I think it will still be beautiful, but usually your florist can help design something complimentary to your dress. I would say to bring a swatch of your fabric (when you have it) to your floral appointment and see what they say.

i honestly dont recall every seeing roses that are stark white....if it's a mix of 'whites' (ie: whites, ivories, and cremes due to the stephs & callas) it'll look really pretty very elegant and classy my gown was ivory with mixed white roses...and the flowers still had more of an ivory tint than my gown lol
