Anyone have a very ivory gown? I can't pull off diamond white as I'm a lil freckly Irish girl, but I swear each time I have a fitting my dress gets more and more ivory and I'm not sure I like that. Am I just going crazy 2.5 weeks before the wedding??

Re: Ivory gowns
I'm Ivory and most of my friends have been...some of the whites look a little cheesy..the ivory looks very elegant.

Re: Ivory gowns
i wore an ivory dress. Didnt look yellow or anything like that at all. If you look at my wedding pics in my album, the dress looks white to me. Depends on the designer though, ivory differs from designer to designer and some are more yellow-ish while others still look white. I saw white from the same designer i had and it was just TOO stark white, the ivory i liked alot better

Re: Ivory gowns
i wore ivory i think it depends on the designer/material/etc...and of course how it goes with ur skin-tone...everyone is different!
i loved my gown...on me it just looked a little richer in ivory
mine was ivory, and I don't think it looked to ivory in pics. I didn't like the look of a white dress, and I though ivory is more elegant. Just make sure that no one else in your bridal party wears white, because it will make your dress seem darker. My DH wore an ivory vest and ivory shirt, and all of the GMs wore ivory shirts under their vests. Also, my flower girl wore an ivory dress so she would match me.

Re: Ivory gowns
I wore an ivory gown - white was just too harsh for my skin tone. My dress was amazing and look elegant in my photos.
I am sure you look beautiful in your dress. Don't even worry about it.

Re: Ivory gowns
mine is ivory as well! It worked better with my skin tone and hair color ( i'm fairly light and have dirty blonde hair) I felt that the white just drained me and it doesn't even look ivory in the pics i took.

Re: Ivory gowns
I had an ivory gown, too. PIB. Go with what looks best with your skin tone.
FTR, the DH and the GMs wore white, not ivory, shirts and we kept the table linens as white as well. I prefer the crisp look of white for those items.
When I go to other people's weddings, assuming I even notice a fabric difference like that, it registers to me that she is wearing an ivory dress and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
ETA--clarification.

Re: Ivory gowns
i like ivory better for the most part - a lot of the time until its up against something white you can't really tell the difference - i think ivory fabric sometimes looks more rich than white - my dress is ivory and you can kind of tell its ivory but its not really yellow looking once its on me...i thought it was white when i tried the sample....but the sample was in fact, ivory so i ordered the same color....

I am a freckly Irish girl as well, and a redhead to boot.....so ivory was the only way to go for me....otherwise I would have blended in to my dress.....don't worry though, the ivory (in many styles) is nicer than the white....it has that classic and antique look!!! LOVE IT!!!

Re: Ivory gowns
I wore ivory...i am so pale that white looked horrible on me...and i didn't care how it looked next to DH's white linen pants or my flowergirl's white dress...i loved my dress.

Re: Ivory gowns
my dress is very very ivory and i love it! i was in the store with my fsil and fmil for fsil dress fittings (her wedding was 3 weeks ago) and i tried on the sample just for fun again. fmil thought it was the wrong color and too dark, but when i put it on, the color just complements me perfectly. our gms are going to wear tuxes with white shirts. i don't think my dress is going to look dirty or yellow or anything next to them.
My dress is Ivory/off white which ever....it look so white BUT then the crinoline under is so much whiter when they are next to eachother I see what you mean it does look yellowish BUT you will be the only bride in the room so noone will notice

Re: Ivory gowns
i picked white but I regret not getting my gown in ivory, don't worry you'll look beautiful. Ivory shows of the details of your dress.
