Ivory vs. White

Ivory vs. White

three questions:

did you get ivory or white?

when you tried it on was it in the color you wanted?

if not, how different did it look in the the color?

i am in love with a certain dress but the white version i don't think is as stunning. its almost like you loose the beading. TIA!!!

Re: Ivory vs. White

my dresses are both ivory (yes i have two....LOL havent decided which to wear yet)...I tried one on in a darker color but it was too dark and saw it in person in ivory and loved it....my other dress was sampled in ivory...

I would try to go with the color the sample is in - unless they use that light gold color and you think its too dark - the designers usually make the sample in the color the dress looks best in....

My dress is called silk white and it's in between white and ivory. I absolutely love it. When I tried it on it was in that color. I think you should be fine in ivory they say ivory looks better on most people.

My dress is ivory - when I tried it on the sample was ivory and I had no idea!!! When the girl told me it only came in ivory or gold - I nearly cried, but then she pointed out that I didn't even know the dress was ivory! So I got in ivory and I couldn't be happier...I love it!!!!

my dress was ivory. I guess i just categorized all wedding dresses as white before i was engaged so i just automatically think white, without even thinking of the other options out there such as ivory. When i went to buy my dress, the lady suggested ivory to me, she brought out a white dress and ivory dress by the same designer i was buying(the sample of my dress was pastel green so i had to see other dresses for the color lol) when she showed me ivory it looked white to me, then she showed me white and the designer i used the white is SOOO stark white and i went with ivory. It looked better on my skin tone too plus the beading looked different on ivory than white.

If someone would've showed me my dress and not told me the color, i wouldve thought it was white. Some designers use a darker ivory though so it depends

i tried on my gown in ivory/multi... meaning ivory in color with multi colored beading .... was told by the consultant that girls who get this dress in white , dont even rcognize it anymore bc the beading is totally lost on it...

This was the bane of my existence!!!

I ended up getting my dress in ivory, simply because that was the sample color. I couldn't possibly fathom ordering the dress sight unseen in white. The difference between Ivory and White was so negligible in my brand (Jasmine), that I couldn't justify going with the white. I think it looks a little richer in the thick satin anyways.

I'm having the same issue... I fell in love with a dress but they only had the sample in gold/ivory, so I feel like it's impossible to imagine what it looks like in ivory or white!

My dress is Ivory but when i tried it on i had no idea it was Ivory. So yes i tried it on in the color i purchased the dress in because when i tried it on in that color it was stunning!

My dress is in Ivory. When I tried it on, I honestly thought it was white. When the woman told me it was Ivory, I was surprised. I kind of thought I'd get an Ivory gown though.

When I tried on my dress the sample was in ivory and I was terrified to order white because I never saw it in person, but I always wanted to have a white gown. I decided to just give it a shot and hope for the best and I ordered it in white. When I went to pick it up I was freaking out thinking I wouldn't like it but it was perfect .. I love it. It does look different than it did in ivory but I like the white one better.

I'd say call a bunch of bridal salons and see if they have a white sample, and if not, go with your gut. Stare at pictures of the dress and visualize white lol. GOod luck!!!!

I got my dress in soft white, I felt it went better with my skintone. plus my dress has lace on it and lace is never true white, so if I got a white dress you would see the color difference.

my dress is ivory, but when i tried it on, it was white. It was just so stark white that i felt you lost the details of the dress...and the fact that i have light skin and hair..i felt it drowned me out..so ivory it was!

that's what i think about the dress i liked. i saw a picture of it in white and i feel like it didn't do the design any justice. i definitely don't want it in white, but the one i tried on, now that i am looking at pics on the website and i think it was light gold.

will the ivory be too much of a difference?

i would have thought my dress was white too - but its not, its ivory, same thing denise said, the white was much starker....the ivory still looked white just not too bright....i think that most of the time the fabric looks richer when the dress is ivory.....

depends on what you really want... my ivory is a deeper color and def cannot be mistaken for white... but this is what i wanted... i didnt want the traditional white dress so it worked out for me

I got my dress in ivory also! I tried on white and although the difference is slight the ivory looked better on my skin coloring! For some reason i think the ivory dresses look more elegant! My dress has a champagney color under the beaded lace in the bodice so it makes the lace pop!!
