Is anyone considering this? I really want to do this. I think it waould be a good way for families and friends to get to know each other before the big day. I would like to seat them the same way they would be seated at the wedding. But then again what if they don't like each other, that means I have a week to rearrange them...crap!

Re: Jack and Jill Shower
We didn't have a real Jack and Jill shower, with a whole guest list of men but we did have some. Any men who were family or groomsmen were invited. I'm no help with seating though, we had open seating.

Re: Jack and Jill Shower
My fear with this is where is the line drawn b/t it being a shower and a 2nd wedding. Also expect the price to double for the shower then.
It's a cute idea but I dunno. Would you invite just the men in your fam, or the gm too, and then are you inviting the females with the dates etc.

Re: Jack and Jill Shower
We would just invite the men in the family. Because we are having a lot of OOT guests we want them to participate with all of the functions. We would not have it as a plated dinner, it would most likely be all the women in my family cooking, as they always do with any family function. You're right about the cost doubling, so I would have to sit down with my mom and MOH to see waht works best with our budget. Thanks!!!

No Fh would never go for this....I have to be honest, I don't know too many men who would want to attend a shower...although i guess the guys would just all hang out together. But that would be my fear....plus, I'm way to selfish, I want all the attention!

Re: Jack and Jill Shower
My Mom is in no way traditional, but she doesn't care for the whole Jack and Jill trend. She says the shower is for the women and she's throwing it, so that's how it's going to be. FH wants to go there with a couple of guys and sit somewhere else in whatever restaurant we choose and sit and eat. I think that's ok because then they can help transport the gifts.

i know a few people that did it... and it was more like a party than a shower... no gifts were opened, no hats were made, no prizes were won...
but ITA, i dont know any men that would want to attend a shower, and half the time ' I ' dont even want to attend....

Re: Jack and Jill Shower
My FH clearly told me that he just wants to 'pick up the gifts and get the eff outta there'.
Guys generally don't have much of an interest in this. If one half of the couple that's being celebrated isn't into it (I mean, see what your FH thinks, I guess), then do you really think the guys invited would like it?
Maybe have an engagement party instead.
Much as I'd like to invite my guy friends (and specifically my best guy friend, who's friggin' LOADED ), they'd probably never talk to me again if I did so.

I think I could word it as a party rather than a shower, which it would be. Gifts are not going to be opened or any games. Come to think of it...why am I even wanting to do this.
