I'm REALLY considering doing this once and for all. My hair is in between wavy and curly but is SO frizzy and unruly. I can't wash and go EVER. I either have to glob on gel to get the curls to hold and look good....or I have to use a brush and with gel comb it back into a ponytail. The hair on my head is so frizzy that if I didn't put get in it and tie it back, I'd look like a mess!!!!
ETA: I also dye my hair and have no choice but to keep it up due to grays......just thought you should know that too.
I know it's been done before, but can you girls give me the pros and cons of this treatment and share your personal experiences with me? TIA

Re: Japenese Hair Straightening
I've replied to a couple other girls who have posted, so rather than re-type, I will copy & paste from an old thread .. Feel free to FM if you want more info
I go to Hayato in NYC. I am not a city person AT ALL, I go just for my hair - I take LIRR and its about a 15-20 min walk from Penn station (or about $8 cab ride). They are THE BEST!! Their other location is in Japan, they know their hair! Straightening is the majority of their business because it is their specialty. Worth the trip. Costs me $260 (includes free haircut) as opposed to over $500 on the island at regular salons who learned the process just to keep up with demand.. I felt more comfortable getting it done by people who specialize in it.
Another thing I liked was that they have you come in for a 'consultation' first to make sure your hair is good for the process. If they think your hair can't take it or won't come out as nice as they'd like - they won't do it... which is much better than other salons who will take your money and do it regardless of how it will end up looking. I don't dye my hair though, you could probably call and ask before making a trip for a consultation.
Do a search on here for Hayato... their are a lot of girls on here who go there You'll see great reviews
here's an 'after' pic
my hair was pretty curly.. here's a 'before' pic from the most most humid horrible hair day ever..
and this is a 'before' pic on a non-humid day and I think my hair was still a little wet..
