I got measured today and she measured me a size 6. I am very petite and plan on going to the gym to tone up. its only an inch difference in the waist. Should I get the 6 just in case or go for the 4??

Get the 6! You're going to need alterations anyway, and dresses can be easily altered down a size or two but it's really hard to alter them bigger. Don't be concerned with the number the lady told you. I'm a 4 at the Limited and an Extra Large at Abercrombie. Different companies make clothes' sizes differently, and the number on the tag is irrelevant. Take her suggestion for the dress that fits the way she thinks it should fit.

I am a street size 1 or 2 and even though I met the measurements for the size 4, Phyllis ordered my dress in a 6 because she said it is much easier to tak a big dress in rather than to let a smaller dress out - just in case I gained any weight.
However, when I first tried my dress on it literally fell right down! My dress was taken in more than you can imagine!!! However, if it is only one size bigger than you measure, I would be safe and order it.
