Jazz Band for reception

What do you guys think of having a jazz band for the entire reception instead of the normal wedding band? I mentioned this to one of my good friends, and she said ' oh my god, thats going to be so boring, i'm not coming!' She said she was kidding, but definitely got her point across. My fiance and I just happen to like this music and i thought it would be fun to swing dance?? Do you guys think it would be boring to most people?

My band is a 'jazz' band that can do everything- they do the whole swing thing and other jazz standards as well- they also do the regular party music too- I think a jazz band is a great idea- I find that the dance floor is more crowded for the standards then for the party music-

We're having a swing music themed wedding, and do NOT think jazz is boring!! In fact, we are going to hire swing dance instructors to teach our guests the basic dance steps. We are however, hiring a band who can play lots of swing, but who can do other types of music as well which will mixed in a bit. Our families are really excited about the idea! Swing music is so much fun! We're even doing our first dance to swing! We can't wait!

We have our choices narrowed down to two bands, NYC Swing and Paul Rich, and hope to make a decision this week!

I say, if a jazzy/swinging wedding is what you and your FH want, go for it!

JVS 77- i think that is a great idea to have swing instructors... how much fun!!! Would you mind me asking about how much your jazz bands are costing? We only want to spend around $3,000 on a band.
