I'm not a show off, and even though I think my ring and engagement are the best thing in the whole wide world, I am not a show off...!
People at work found out on theor own about my engagement when they saw the ring, I didn't tell anyone directly. A co-worker at my job went and made a katty comment about my ring being fake to someone. Needless to say I found out. I was hurt and angry.
Has anyone experienced this kind of mean spirited jealousy??
FYI...Jealousy will not ruin my excitement!!!

I've had people act jealous in other ways. Like friends who act resentful toward me because I'm getting married, because they're lonely and haven't found someone, and they actually try to make me feel GUILTY about hvaing found my soulmate

I have gotten a lot of different reactions, mostly about my e-ring not being a diamond. most people think it's beautiful, but I've had two women in office ask to see my ring and they had strange reactions.
one lady was just like 'Oh...' and nothing
another was like
her: 'that's your e-ring' me: 'yes' her: 'you WANTED a sapphire' me: 'yes'
then I get this strange look as she walked away.
Don't sweat it. People can be really stupid and insensitive sometimes.
ETA: In my case, I don't think it was jealousy...just ???who knows???

That's sooo rude! I hate it when people act like that. How does she know whether its real or fake and why is it any of her business?
I get the same look sometimes too b/c my FH got me a 2 1/2 carat ring The nerve of some ppl! They forget that its all about the engagement not the e-ring!

It is jealousy. Sometimes I feel weird even showing my ring to people! I never show my ring to anyone unless they ask to see it because of this reason. Its pathetic!

Same with me -- only when asked do I show it. I can't help feeling a little bad when I'm showing it to someone with a small ring. I don't want them to think I'm showing off or anything. When I was engaged 8 years ago, my ring was small and I had a few girls flaunt their rings to me. I have to admit, I was a little jealous -- so I am concious of not acting that way to anyone.

OH yeah ...I have had people say thing that they thought were 'funny' or when speaking to anyother girl in the off they will just walk 10 feet infront of you ....you cant let it reck anything ....I am glad to hear that you wont let it

Some people are just nasty and rude. I have had some issues at work when I first got engaged. I remember be excited (which is normal i think) and I was showing my ring and a girl there who is always a Big B**ch comes over to me grabs my hand looks at my ring and says ' Oh...when I was once engaged I had the same ring. ' lol I just laughed as I walked away. I really wanted to say 'I don't think so this type of diamond just came out, you couldn't have it like 10 or so yrs ago'. But I was like look where its coming from so why bother. I just laughed. People are just cruel and jealous.

That's horrible! Yea, some people can be really rude and they are jealous for whatever reason. Sorry that it hurt but I'm glad you're not letting it ruin your excitement, that's the only way to do it. In life you're gonna run into some sore sports so just hold your head up high and be glad you're not one of them. I don't show my ring unless asked, otherwise I'm afraid they're gonna think I'm a show-off, lol.

I haven't had things said about my e-ring...BUT beochy ladies at work think I am waiting too long to get married...MYOB...And it wasn't even like I was telling them directly..I was telling other nice ladies in the office and then 1 oe 2 butted in

cause I was asked and i was kind of taken back a bit...i felt bad saying cause her ring was smaller and i didnt feel like she was being genuine... she was just being nosey.. needless to say i felt uncomfortable... was it me and I being too uptight?

So now I hear my co-worker actually asked what my FH does for a living, and she made a point of bringing up his ethnicity!! But to make the situation even more bizarre, she comes and tells me she wants to help me plan the wedding! Does this make sense???I can't believe how someone could be so tactless and mean!
