Re: jennbaby and other ebay sellers...
Use HTML to make your posts look professional.. just a few simple tags can make a big difference.Post your auctions considering the time you want them to end. I believe Sunday night auctions are popular for this reason but it depends on what you are selling. If you post your auction on Sunday at 9 pm and list for 7 days, it will end around 9 a week later. Being on the east coast, posting first thing in the morning wouldn't be good since the west coast people would be asleep when it ends...
Include lots of pictures!
Does your ID have any feedback? If not, consider buying a bunch of inexpensive items to inflate your rating. People are more comfortable buying from people with high ratings, and tend to look just at the number not the details of the transactions.
Accept lots of payment methods, buyers have different preferences, so if you accomodate them all you are likely to get more bids -- PayPal, Bid Pay, Checks, Money Orders etc....

Re: jennbaby and other ebay sellers...
Buy items at garage sales. If you want examples, I buy all my stuff in lots on ebay and then I sell them seperately. Or I hit the garage sales and look to see what the newest novels are and buy them for next to nothing. I also hit the library. Sometimes the library near my house sells books and they are usually around $.20.If you do a search under my name on ebay(budsvtec) you will see all the items I have listed for sale. Also check out my feedback. I have all positive feedback...120 to be exact. Just so you can get an idea....The auctions I have up now do not include pics...but if you want something to sell fast, it is a great idea to post detailed pics.
What I did when I first started selling on ebay is I basically cleaned my house and looked for items that I wanted to sell...and instead of throwing them out, I made money on them.
I also bought items for alot less on ebay, or on other we boards and then turned around and made a big profit on them.
Another big thing to do is to wait for the xmas season, see what items are hot this year....Like toys. Last year my big items were Scooby Doo Desk Fans. I found a store where I purchased them for $3.50 each and I turned around and sold them on Ebay for $22.00 each
Also the Friends Board game was a hot seller....Every store that had them couldnt keep them on the shelves for too long. I found a bunch at a store and I would call other toy stores all the time looking for the game. When they came in I would buy them for $9.99 each and sell them on Ebay for $20 to $30. People would buy them like crazy...because you could not find them anywhere.
Another thing you could do is to find one of those whole sale catalogs where you can buy items in bulk...and then sell the items on ebay....Like holiday stuff....Valentines day, and easter are big money making holidays...and of course Hanukah and christmas. Maybe Christmas Ornaments....
Look for Store Closings...especially when Items go over 50% off....I made a killing when the Wiz went out of business....
If you want to know anything more, let me know.

Re: jennbaby and other ebay sellers...
Ive made soo much money on ebayand from selling complete crap. ive gotten stuff from grage sales, auctions, and just stuff laying around the house.
the ladies who just posted above put it perfectly
listen to them.
1, make it presentable
2, provide enough images
3, keep a good description mentioning any flaws
4, keep shipping cost within reason
5, keep your starting prices a little lower
6, and ALWAYS check and see if the item you want to sell is even on ebay or people are bidding on this type of item.
happy selling
