Morning sickness - do you think it's hereditary? I have heard of many women not having it and neither did their mother's/grandmothers. I did and so did my sister (horribly). Discovered my mother and grandmother did too.

I don't know if it is hereditary. My sister had horrible morning sickness with 2 out of 3 of her children. She actually had to quit her job and be on IV's for most of her pregnancy due to being so sick. When I wsa pregnant, I never had an ounce of morning sickness.

I was told by my dad ( somewhat reliable source) that my mom never got it and I really did not have much ( my mom passed away and I never got to ask her, though I wish I did. )

My mom was sick during her entire pregnancy with me...and I never once got m/s with Molly. So not sure if it really is or not.

Thank you, it is very hard, but I know that my mom would want me to be happy during this time so Im trying to go with that. I try not to think of it too much...

I dont know if its is.. I had terrible MS and my mom said she didnt have any MS (she had 4 children)

Yes I know but she said her Mom didn't either and then we did a comparison of my situation and my mother's. That's why we were wondering if it seems like something hereditary (since so many other health factors seem to be).

I think to a degree. For instance I feel like I am very much like my mom in many ways. When she was young she got horrible AF cramps to the point of throwing up. Fast forward 25 years, and I have the same tendencies! SHe said her stopped when she started BC, mine too!

Now, I dont know if I will have morning sickness or not but my mom didnt with 3 kids, neither did her sister.
I dont think you can go 100% by what your mom/grandmother did, but if you have a similar body chemistry I think it could be considered heriditiy.

I have read that many factors may make you more susecptible (sp) to m/s:
1. if the bcp made you nauseous
2. if you get motion sickness
3. hereditary
there are more I forgot.

I never had MS at all. My mom did though, with at least 3 of her 6 kids. Not sure if its hereditary.

My doctor told me it isn't, nor is propensity to miscarry. He also told me that even though I wasn't sick at all this time, next time I could be sick as a dog the whole time.
