So,I just had a VERY unpleasant exchange with the gentelman from JT. I didn't even get his name because he didn't even give me the opportunity to ask him. He asked me what my budget was (under $120pp on a Saturday night in december) and he was like 'YOU'RE NOT GOING TO GET THE WEDDING YOU WANT ON A SATURDAY NIGHT ON LONG ISLAND FOR UNDER $120PP. YOU SHOULD WAIT AND UP YOUR BUDGET OR HAVE IT ON A FRIDAY OR SUNDAY AFTERNOON'.Now.. its not WHAT he said that bothers me.. but its HOW he said it. He was just rude and condescending and all in all not nice. Totally turned me off from a beautiful venue! I was still going to make an appt for a tour until he got nasty.
end rant.

EWWWWW!!! First of all, I am getting married in January and am paying WAYYYYYYY under that, yes ours is a day wedding and January but had it been at night it would have been the SAME. Our banquet manager didn't say more for evening... That time of year is fairly cheap in general so I don't know what he is talking about. UGh. I can't stand rude people.

So rude! I had an annoying exchange when I first started looking with a banquet manager from Leonard's in great neck. Totally turned me off! And btw you will DEFINITELY be able to get way under that! I'm paying almost half that for a January wedding.

Really were you speaking to a banquet manager or just the person that answers the phone there? I am getting married there and have never had anything but great service from them and when I call for my bm if he is unavailable they always leave a message and gets back to me right away. My bm is chad maybe call him directly tell them you were refered to speak to him directly. We are half that pp we are a day wedding but we are getting married prime wedding season. December is definitely off. He was great and definitely did what ever he could to make us comfortable and threw in a lot. Also if you call tell him about the rude exchange you had I am sure Chad will even knock price down or throwm more extras in.

I know i can have the wedding I want for under $100pp because I've been quoted at plenty of other places. I love JT's main ballroom with the dome and stuff and I've heard their food is AMAZING... that phone call just put a bad taste in my mouth :(

Wow how rude! We are having a September Saturday night wedding so PRIME TIME and paying around $125 with tax/service charge so it is completely doable! Especially in December, and we were quoted low $90s for most of the venues we looked at so that person is FULL of it!Sorry you had such an annoying experience, sometimes people should just shut their mouth.

WOWWWWWWWWW, rude much? And what he said is also completely untrue! Don't let it turn you away from there though, as that's a pretty popular venue so they must be good overall! Try calling and speaking with someone else. And I would DEFINITELY tell them about this phone call.

Katie that's exactly what happened to me at Larkfield Manor. You can definitely pay less than that for what you want. People just suck lol.

I called back and asked to speak with a banquet manager. He was much nicer and told me that what he said was totally untrue and that they are ALWAYS willing to accommodate and work with brides. However... I still just didn't get a good feeling from them. I almost felt like... I was talking to Sly the Loan Shark. Does that make sense to anyone?

That is very rude! I'm glad you stood up for yourself! No one should ever speak to a potential client like that under any circumstances. I had bad experiences with other places myself and its sad because you never know where we would have booked had we been treated differently at certain places.Throwing in my thoughts though, just from my personal wedding hall journey of 19 halls when I was looking I was thinking either December 2013 or January 2014 and I found the prices to be MUCH cheaper in January then December. And same with the high cost of Saturday nights, we were originally looking for a friday night because my fiancé refused to have a day wedding bc hes crazy but we wound up doing Martin Luther King Sunday night, where most people have off the next day and so its kinda like a Saturday but we saved 30$ per person. We have saved a ton of money and are getting a big bang for our buck by switching to January from December because alot of places do Christmas and Holiday parties for companies. If December is your dream then go for it!! but just figured I'd share my experiences

That stinks!! I had a similar experience with Vineyard Caterers. It was one of my number one venues and the lady was just plain rude. The whole appt lasted 1/2 hour she didnt care about my business or negotiating I left in tears but, luckily it lead me to MY hall so everything works out. The people can make or break the halls they should value us all we are spending a lot of money!!

Katie, same thing happened to us when we went to JT, but it felt like even more of a let down. We told him our budget, he showed us every room, even gave us a whole private tasting right then and there, and then told us what their prices were :/ we really fell in love with a lot of the aspects of the hall. Once he told us the prices we were really let down. I'm not sure why he wasted his time and ours. You'll find the right place though :)
