Ladies... thank you for posting your cakes... I ADORE them all!!! That passed out bride and groom is hysterical by the way! Love the purple.. (my color)

I don't think its extra to customize the colors you want. I remember asking and he said that you can get the icing colors however you want.

As for the fondont I do not think that is included. I think you have to pay extra. The cakes above are not fondont

All those cakes are buttercream. It depends on what exactly you want to customize. Fondant is definitely extra. And it's depending on how intricate the design is that you're looking for if it's extra money.


Just a heads up- they don't make it easy. JT told me to speak to Dortoni's, Dortoni's told me to speak to JT. I didn't care all that much as long as it tasted good, so we went with something out of the book.

ETA: We did do a tasting at Dortoni's which was excellent. JT told us we couldn't do a tasting, but we called Dortoni's and they accommodated us no problem.

Thanks a ton for all this info! How far before your wedding did you set up the details with dortoni? I am a bit over 6 months to the wedding.. so I am sure I have plenty of time... but just curious how far in advance to start with the cake situation. Also.. did you happen to do a food tasting with JT?? I want to set that up eventhough we are already booked. We didn't do a tasting yet!

we booked without doing a tasting at JT too. we went to two showcases though and had the food they had there. lol.

If you want to change things it's better to go to Dortoni yourself. This is what I did. I didn't like any of the options they gave us so I went to Dortoni and ordered my cake through them directly. It wasn't any extra for us because we didn't do anything crazy. I thought I had a pic of our cake but all I have is this. Flower Michele was our florist and they added the flowers to our cake.

Silly question:: Who is Dortoni's? Is that where JT gets their cake made from??

So do I go to them to book my cake and tell them which design and colors I want??

I paid extra for mine and went right to Dortoni's (the bakery they use in Levittown) to design it. I also supplied the crystal banding and the black ribbon. This was all buttercream no fondant at all.

This is actually not what our cake was supposed to look like. They messed it up- they weren't supposed to put flowers on it because the florist was going to decorate it with fresh flowers.
