Jeweler Help! (& vent, a little long..)
Hi Ladies.FI & I ordered our wedding rings in Feb (president's day). They said it would take 6 wks to be done (mine is platinum w/some diamonds, kind of a bezel setting, i think). Seemed a while, but I figured, no biggie, my wedding isn't till June.
Well here we are at May, and my ring still isn't ready. I've called them a few times since the beginning of April (when they were supposed to be ready), got very angry last time. they always say '2 more weeks' and 'oh when is your wedding? June? you'll have them in plenty of time'. NOT what i wanted to hear bucko! i feel very disrespected as a customer.
FI's ring is ready, but besides the deposit i left, i refuse to give them a cent more until mine is ready (thought that would be SOME incentive).
We ordered from Chateau jewelers in Forest Hills, in our neighborhood. they've been there forever, seem to do good business. I am very disappointed in them.
At this point, i almost want to tell them that if my ring isn't ready to forget about it, i'll get something else SOMEWHERE else. But who knows if i can actually do that at this point.
FI is 'popping in' after work today to see if some face-to-face action will help. Do any of you have experience with this jeweler or can offer any help?
Thanks for listening..

Even six weeks is too long. But you're right, a face-to-face should get some answers.Good luck.

This happened to my brother and his wife. His ring was not ready for his wedding and he had to buy another ring from the jeweler for his wedding, return it after the ceramony and then his ring came in and it was too small. Finally, he got his ring...but after his wedding...

Woah! That's the first bad thing I've heard about them, interesting. But you're absolutely right, that is way too long. Are they giving you a reason why it's taking so long?

Called end of March - said '2 more weeks not ready yet (mine or FI's)'.Then it was the Jewish holidays in the beg of April (when the rings should have already been done anyway). they are religious, fine.
then they said that b/c my ring is platinum it will take more time. (2 wks ago. FI's was done).
Ok, it takes a while, but 2 1/2 mos? come on.
blah blah blah.
This shop seems so reputable, which is why i am so dismayed!
And we want our rings engraved, and would have liked to have these people do it. but i don't want my ring held hostage any longer
