jewelry??

I have recently been thinking more and more about what jewelry i will wear for the wedding.

Did you buy your jewelry (some or all) when purchasing your dress? I am picturing my dress when looking at pieces but feel i may end up with several pieces i wont end up wearing the day of. the dress is simple and i dont want to over power it with lots of bling; was thinking i would only do earrings and a bracelet.

The earrings i am unsure of because i havent decided on a hair do. Am i doing this all backwards?
one thing i know for sure is that i will be looking after valentines day and mothers day when more items will be on sale.
