Can anyone recommend a good Jewelry cleaner for my engagement ring. It is platinum (not sure if that matters based on chemicals in cleaner). I hate having to bring it to my jeweler so often, but it gets so dirty because I work with Autistic children who need tons of tactile therapy, so my hands are constantly in shaving cream, play doh, goop etc. and I never take it off for fear of losing it.

Re: Jewelry Cleaner
i use the jewelry cleaner tub from Macys...Blitz (blue jar). i know alot of other girls on here use a red jar one from CVS. i think they are probably all pretty similar.
its not like a steam clean but i think it does a great job!

I worked in the jewelery business for 7 years and all the jewelers use Mr. Clean!! It works like a charm.

Windex, no joke! As long as it contains NO ammonia. :)

I heard that somewhere. Do I have to heat it up or just put it in a cup of windex?

Re: Jewelry Cleaner
I have a platinum ring too... and I use a toothbrush and hot water (a spare one, not the one that I use). I was told by my jeweler not to buy one of those ultrasonic jewelry cleaners because it could loosen the stones in the ring. One of my smaller stones actually fell out at one point... after I used one of those machines for a couple of weeks.
HTH!

Yes, just dip it in and you could use a toothbrush to get into the nooks, it works like a charm!

Re: Jewelry Cleaner
i also worked in a jewelry store for a number of years. any of the cleaners that you get from the stores OR Windex. They even suggest putting it in warm soapy dish detergent (palmolive ie). yoru jewlery can sonic and steam clean it once in a while,... Just be careful not to do it every day and loosen stones

Re: Jewelry Cleaner
I have Connoisseurs Jewelry cleaner. It's a little red jar. FMIL has been a jeweler for 30 years and gave it to me right after I got my ring. It smells but works like a charm!

Re: Jewelry Cleaner
i work in a jewelry store i forget the one that we sell but its like connisures. i would reconmend to put the liguid in the microwave and heat it up a little. it helps with taking the dirt and soap off the ring and then rinse under water. DO NOT PUT THE JEWELRY IN THE MICROWAVE.
